A lovely curry, always so so important you chose a good Indian restaurant, and this is a good one. I like a veggie curry personally, and there's lots of choice of vegetable side dishes, the waiters are always efficent and you always leave with a full belly. can't go wrong here

Poppadum down!

25 Apr 08, 20:22 4* Above expectations

Have just sampled my first curry here and I have to say I am suitably impressed. We were eating fairly early, so it was not so busy. However, by the time we left it was practically full - always a good sign. The food was of a good standard, nice crispy poppadums to start and the best Sag Aloo I've tasted in a while. The staff are almost too attentive, perhaps as it was a little quiet.

Nice but pricey

18 Apr 08, 09:35 3* As expected

Ashoka is right next door to another Indian, Ganges so it needs to be good to get the business...in fact it doesn't really because most people know of Ashoka, they're a chain and a good one at that.

The prices are slightly above that of other curry houses I have been to, they do take away which is quick but there is no real offer or discount if you take away.

The food is very good quality and you get the customary free poppadonm and bag of onions with your take away order!!

Ooh, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!

16 Apr 08, 17:40 4* Above expectations

I do pity the poor staff in here who usually have to put up with me and my posse who invade this delightful indian restaurant after a few too many alcopops. But I have to say, that the staff are fantastic, sublimely polite and always give great service. I can highly recommend the Lamb Pathia, which they always make just a bit spicier if I'm feeling daring that night. Ooh, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!

Quality Ruby

There are a fair few curry houses in Hove but this is my new favourite. I've been to most of the others but have now come to the conclusion after giving it considerable thought that this is the best!

They just do really great curries that always taste incredibly fresh. Also they'll cook your dish exactly how you want it even if it isn't on the menu.

To my mind you can always judge a good Indian restaurant by its poppadums...big and crispy...perfect! It's very popular with the locals...I was there on a recent Thursday and by the time we left there wasn't a spare table in the place. The service is top notch and you get decent chocolates on your bill instead of the usual After 8 rubbish...you can't argue with that.
