amazing service and brilliant food.

26 Jun 08, 11:22 4* Above expectations

i would like to aware people of how nice this pub is and how freindly the staff are. Also the food there is very nice and very very well priced. There is a garden and pay and display parking is outside. It is a friendly and relaxing pub. I'd like to thank all the staff who work there for a brilliant service.

By the cricket ground...oddly enough

The Sussex Cricketer is owned by the same brewery that run The Sussex down on the seafront in Hove...and you can see the similarities in the decor and size of the place. There's usually plenty of room in there except of course on days when the cricket's on and then it's rammed! Good pre-match atmosphere though and what do you expect from a pub that lives virtually on the pitch?!

Aside from cricket days...I had a stint as a quiz regular (not that I can remember what night it was on...sorry) and really enjoyed it. The questions can be pretty hard but you feel well pleased with yourself when you get one right! Besides it's the taking part that counts isn't it? Isn't it?!

Good atmosphere on cricket days

25 Apr 08, 09:11 3* As expected

This pub gets very very busy on days when there's cricket on... in a good way though.

The garden is nice, but you'll be lucky to get a seat on hot days.

The food is ok too, and reasonably priced.

There is a cashpoint inside, but it will charge you £1.75 for withdrawing your money.

Perfect for a pint at the fireworks

16 Apr 08, 17:29 3* As expected

I wouldn't ordinarily go here, but after a lovely evening at the Sussex Cricket Club fireworks event I snuck in for a cheeky pint of cider. It was a wintery November evening, the fire was roaring, and the bar was busy, but the atmosphere was great and I imagine they trade fantastically well.

Next to Sussex County Cricket Club

11 Apr 08, 15:20 3* As expected

This pub is crazy busy and has a great atmosphere when Sussex County Cricket Club are playing at home. The rest of the time it can be pretty quiet and lacking in atmosphere. If the weather is good it has a nice sunny garden. The food is okay, if a bit pub chain-ish.
