I love the Forager. I have alway feel completely at home and comfortable here and the food is imaginative and delicious. The staff are friendly and although its quite trendy and attracts thirty-somethings and young trendy mums - they also look after oldies well (I took my old mum here and the bar staff were brilliant to her - she loved it). Its both stylish and down-to-earth. The decked garden area is a great airy space for brighter weather. An affordable treat.
You're lucky if it's your local

I went in here a couple of weeks ago on a Friday evening and there was an enormous group of gorgeous blokes in there... this may skew my review slightly.
Great wine, friendly bar staff and they put your crisps in a bowl for you!?! It's a bit of a tardis inside and you can usually find a seat even if it looks busy. Not eaten in here but the food looks good.

Nice for a local

This is probably the closest pub to my house, pretty nice for a local at that too. Conveniently on the way home from doing the Tesco shop which is always good to recouperate from carrying the shopping over a nice glass of organic pinot noir. Excellent wine list, lovely service, tasty local food. It's more restaurant than pub prices so we don't eat in there as often as we'd like to (about £15 for a main). Their main competitor is the Ginger Pig on Hove Street, and I think that their food keeps their game up for sure. I think they need to sort out the lighting in there a bit which makes the space feel cold and a bit static.
