Quack pizza!

This is a big pub without much of an intimate feeling. I can think of better places to go for a few drinks or a bite to eat. There is a real mix of clientele here from city workers havin a drink on the way home to Bikers stopping off for a quick shandy. But i have to say that the pizza's are really good, especially the Duck pizza, and the garlic bread is pretty good too!

...but don't stick around!
This pub is ok for a quick drink. As it's right by the station, it gets very busy with office types, heading home. It's not got the best atmosphere but does get extremely busy, so there's plenty of 'people spotting' to be done. The seating is a little odd too - there's not alot of it and there's a real mix of odd chairs and stools! The menu looked ok but I haven't ever sampled any of the food. I think the fact that you can see the food being cooked (they have an authentic pizza oven on full view) is a sure sign the food is fresh?

My feeling with the station pub is that it would be far better being one of two things... either a good modern little bar for the commuter crowd or a nice sitdown pizzeria/restaurant. As it does both of those things, I can't help feeling that instead of being okay doing both that it should be great with just one?! Saying this, it is a nice little pitstop and quite convenient being next door to Hove station, the pizzas are really tasty... but there are nicer places I would go for both a drink and food in Hove..!

The thing with this pub is this. It doesn't try to be a cosy intimate quirky place it is what it is, a big old shell of a pub with two really big things going for it. Firstly it is a great place for a night out if there is a big bunch of you, lots of room you see.
Secondly the duck pizza will knock you on your arse. Different class.

BOGOF

I've been to The Station several times... mainly because I was commuting from Hove to London every day, and it's literally the first pub you stumble into when you get off the train. Consequently, it's usually full of 'office types'. You wouldn't really choose this over other pubs or bars futher into Hove, as it's a bit off the beaten track.
The menu is ok - I would recommend if you are going to visit, you do so on a Tuesday when it's BOGOF (buy one get one free) pizza.

Now The Station at Hove could be a really great place...and I've had a couple of decent nights in there with work mates but mostly because of who I was with. It lacks a certain something...maybe it's the size & layout of the place.
My last visit there really put me off...they do a buy one get one free pizza offer on a Tuesday (I think it's a Tuesday anyway). I went with 4 other mates and although we all ordered our pizzas all together they came out about 45 minutes apart. Even then they got the order wrong and they really weren't that nice either. P*ss up and brewery spring to mind! I'm sure I'll go back to The Station but it won't be to eat...which is a shame because it could be really good.

The Station Pub

The station is a good pub, its located in Hove and easy to get to from the train station. I wouldn't be able to spend all night in there as the atmosphere isn't great but not bad for a works drink.

Star spot - Steve Coogan

The station is a good pub, but it should really be a great pub. I would recommend it for an after work drink but it's not somewhere you'd want to stay all night 'cos it doesn't have the best atmosphere and the bar staff are a bit slow. I once saw Steve Coogan (aka Alan Partridge) in here, he lives in Hove don't you know.

But it just doesn't maximise on it. Just because a pub's next to the station, it doesn't mean that everyone will drink in it. Just the people who get off the long commute back from London who are dying for a beer. It's a shame as there's not many drinking establishments close by, but come on, give it a bit more atmosphere and step up your game to give Hove Station a pub to be proud of!
Great pub, pricey drinks

I really like this place, it's convenient for the train station so if you're a commuter you can get off the train and come here for a quick drink. It is a little bit expensive for the drinks but Tuesday nights well make up for it with 2 for 1 pizza. They are really large pizzas cooked in an authentic pizza oven and if you can't finish it then they're happy to put it in a box for you to take home. The Hoisin Duck Pizza is sensational!!
