A sandwich with a smile

03 Jun 08, 10:58 5* Beyond expectations

What can I say that hasn't been said before? As cheap as chips? Spotlessly clean? Big sandwich and roll fillings, served by lovely ladies with equally big smiles? You only have to see the customers who use this sandwich bar on a regular basis to know that this is one of the best in Brighton & Hove. And being Olivers, may I ask for another portion again and again!...

Friendly and Personable

What a great sandwich shop, the staff are always lovely and friendly and they get to know your order after a while!!! It is much better than heading up to tesco for a pre packaged sandwich.

The sausage roll will change your life

06 May 08, 12:44 5* Beyond expectations

Olivers do decent sandwiches, they have all the fillings you would expect, they have crisps, cold drinks and even cakes.

My advice however is to ignore all of the above and go straight for the hot sausage roll, for this pastry laden piece of magic is the very reason the lyrics " yummy yummy yummy I got love in my tummy" were written.

If you do one thing before you die go to Olivers in portslade and eat as many of these as you can before your stomach explodes all over station road, it really would be the best way to go.

Best Chicken mayo in Brighton.. and possibly the world!

27 Apr 08, 21:48 5* Beyond expectations

This is the best sandwhich shop, the staff are amazing and very friendly, they remember everyone and the banter is pretty good! And the chicken mayo is beyond superb, they must have a secret recipe! Basically everything about this place is great, if you havent been there yet, shame on you!

Always lasagne on a Thursday

25 Apr 08, 07:54 3* As expected

Handy for work, this is my sandwich shop of choice in Portslade.

They always do lasagne on a Thursday, but you have to get in quick because it usually sells out in the first round of lunch breaks (12 -1).

They do a good choice of sandwiches, savoury pastries and jacket potatoes. Staff are very friendly and always up for a good gossip!

Tasty bite!

24 Apr 08, 13:40 3* As expected

Olivers is what you'd expect from a sandwich shop. There's a wide choice of fillings for sandwiches and Jacket Potatoes, plus daily specials. Not every filling is delicious but it's all fresh and served with a smile and a chat from the lovely Oliver's Ladies. Worth a try.

Quick Snack

23 Apr 08, 13:48 2* Below expectations

Small sandwich bar and cafe. The ladies behind the counter are very friendly and chatty. The food is okay, fine for a quick lunchtime snack but not when you are in a hurry as the service can be slow.

Ugh - bring your own from home

23 Apr 08, 13:34 2* Below expectations

I don't like this place - it is not for those who have taste shall we say. Rubbish bread and even worse fillings - perhaps a microwaved jacket potato? nice and hard in the middle - think I'll give this one a miss.

Friendly service

18 Apr 08, 13:54 3* As expected

It's always super friendly service in here. The girls are always bright and cheery. Sausage rolls are always a winner, and if you fancy stopping to eat your lunch there's a nice little counter you can perch by and watch the people of Portslade passing by.

Ham And Cheese on Brown!!

18 Apr 08, 12:23 4* Above expectations

When im working i pop over to Olivers to get my lunch, due to being allergic to certain foods they cater for my needs and make sure they handle my Sanwich with care. Resonable amount to pay as well. As it is popular some times you may have to wait for a couple of minutes.

Get your jackets

18 Apr 08, 00:50 3* As expected

Great place for a lunchtime snack. Sometimes a wait at lunctimes but get there after 1.30 you'll be fine. Corination chicken is my fave. Could be better selection of drinks.

Legendary Chicken & Mayo

16 Apr 08, 20:57 5* Beyond expectations

Mmmmmm, I love Olivers! I'm hungry just thinking about it! The ladies who work in Olivers are absolutely lovely, always chatting away to the customers. I go in there almost every lunchtime for a chicken & mayo roll with lettuce, tomato & cheese! Really lovely clean, cheap place with LOADS of choice and speedy smiley service!

Friendly service - cheap, tastey grub

12 Apr 08, 15:00 4* Above expectations

I've got to admit that I'm a bit of a fan of a early morning sausage roll so as its just around the corner from work I'll often find myself popping round for a quick bite to eat.

Now as you'll probably know there's a vast difference in quality of sandwich shops. Some using really cheap, crappy products and some using ridiculously over priced, pretentious products.

I'm happy to say that they sit nicely in the middle. The food tastes nice and the staff are always smiling.

Yummy!

12 Apr 08, 02:11 4* Above expectations

Oliver's sandwich bar put's an end to the pre packed supermarket sarnies, with enough filling in the front to make it look like the whole sandwich is jam packed full! At the same price you're getting excellent value for money and a very tasty lunch! I personally recommend the Bacon and Runny egg on white bread.

Good for a quick lunch

11 Apr 08, 15:00 3* As expected

Formerly known as "Tracey's" this Sandwich bar is a really good place to nip in at lunch time to grab a sandwich or jacket. The staff are extremely friendly and the service is very quick. So if you are in portslade and need to grab a sandwich, pop in there.

Cheese and pickle on brown

11 Apr 08, 11:44 3* As expected

As someone who gets their lunch for Olvier's (still referred to as Tracey's for those of us who have worked round the corner for too long) very regularly am I too close to Kerry and Pam to write a review?! Not sure?

The sandwiches are a very good price (and you get a free bit of cheese with most orders!) They also do some hot food (good chips) and cakes.

Perfect for a quick bite

11 Apr 08, 11:16 4* Above expectations

A small but perfectly formed sandwich place if you don't want supermarket food for lunch. Always a great selection of fillings, jacket potatoes, paninis and specials every day. The banter is very jolly and the lady who works there is always very friendly. Every visit is a pleasure
