Fantastic Little Surprise!!

Just been for my first trip to Caruso with family. A couple of people including one staff member had birthday celebrations. Wonderful food, wonderful staff, good prices. Great fun evening. Thank you for making us so welcome and my little 7 year old girl feel so grown up. Will be returning very soon.

Small glasses

This is remarkably nice considering its location. On one of the most grim roads in Brighton, this small inconspicuous restaurant is a delight. I've only ever been for lunch and have only ever been delighted. It is superb value for money, cheap lunch, very good pizza and pasta. My one gripe is that they use those really small wine glasses, you know the ones you can get at ikea or really cheap at the supermarket, apart from that it's wonderful!

Looking a little tatty from the outside, it would be easy to walk straight past here. Situated right in the middle of Portslade High Street, it's a great place to stop off for some lunch. They offer a briliant deal of any pizza or pasta, plus a drink for just over a fiver. Everything is served fresh and if you're feeling extra hungry I recommend the Calzone pizza - it's huge and great value. The staff here are all extremely friendly and the service is good. Not the best place for a romantic meal though as the tables are extremely close together!

I popped into here for lunch and was not disappointed. The lasagne was to die for and the service was friendly & efficient.

Probably not the greatest place to go for a romantic meal as the decor is a little dated but you'll get a good feed nonetheless.

The Ghnocci in here is ABSOLUTELY delicious

The Ghnocci in here is ABSOLUTELY delicious. What I love about Carusos is that it's exterior is so unassuming, but the good Italian food is always mouthwateringly delicious. I generally go on a lunchtime and go for the 5.95 lunch special (a main and a drink) which keeps me going for the rest of the day.

This a tiny, typical Italian. You dont get much privacy as you can hear the next tables conversation as the tables are so close together! The menu is pretty standard and the food is ok. I heard good reviews for this place but wasnt that impressed with it. If you want a simple, quick meal this is the place to go.

This is a bog standard Italian restaurant. I have had a pizza here a couple of times and it's pretty good - good size, good base texture and nice range of toppings. I did have gnochi once and I'm afraid it wasn't great - a bit sloppy - ugh!?

Not a bad place for a cheap Italian lunch - 5.95 for a meal and a drink at lunch including pizza and pasta and you can have a beer - what more do you need?

If you are looking for a decent italian meal then this place does the job well.it isnt flash but the food is freshly cooked and as good as you need for a bite to eat at lunchtime.the service is always friendly and efficient and the prices are good value.

I've been in there a few times and usually the food has been really nice, however I have had one bad experience where the food was a bit bland.

Its nice for a meal out but not necessarily with your girlfriend - I was in the dog house after taking her there once :O)

Been here 6-7 times. Nice small cozy place. Always seems busy. Has good lunchtime trade. Food is always TOP DRAW, although I have only ever had the same thing, but before you shout me down the Calzone is the best I have ever had, and other people I have been with have said food is very good. Prices very good as well, and being close to work, you can stagger back after that long lunch!
