I'm not a genius but I do know one way to make this place better, employ more staff and open more tills. It has the opportunity to be so much better than it is. It is not only a petrol station but also a Simply Food from M&S. The nearest Marks and Spencers is either in Shoreham or in the centre of Brighton so to have one here is a bonus, but they've got it all wrong, this is a horrendous experience from start to finish and here is why....

You arrive and there is nowhere to park, when you do wait for someone to leave, you get in to be confronted with huge queues at the tills. There is no separate till for people just buying fuel or just buying food, in fact most of the time there are only 2 of the 5 tills open.

The food is good obviously but it isn't the cheapest, you know that with M&S but you also know you are getting quality goods.

If they sorted out the problems then this place would be so much more welcoming.

Oh and the petrol is expensive, it's BP, I always find them more expensive anyway.

I cant believe the difference that has bestowed the old BP garage. Now I make an exuse to have to go. The whole atmosphere and choice plus great point of sale areas really make it more than just getting some petrol. Well done for the Marks and Spencers franchise which is desperately needed in this area of Hove.

I am a regular visitor of this establishment as its near work and it seems to always be my turn to fill up the cars! The new addition to this store is the M&S food store which is great and sells yummy things which make you spend way too much money, the sandwhiches are great and they do nice healthy salads too. There is always a queue though, and they place all the bad sweets and chocolate on the way through the long and winding queue which tempt you, Evil tactics i say...

Yes...having an M&S Food attached to my nearest petrol station is an absolute bonus. I go every Saturday to stock up for my shift at work...although it does mean I spend way too much on lunch...and eat way too many nice things!

However...there are two big problems here. First of all there's not enough parking out front for those not filling up at the pumps...it's chaos out there. Also the queues inside are unbelievable...not enough staff with too few tills open. Rubbish.

Being very excited to discover a Marks & Spencer close to work I rushed down here, only to be extremely disappointed. There is a good selection of food but it's laid out in such a strange way, you can wander about aimlessly! Also, despite being a number of tills, the service is EXTREMELY slow. My advice? Don't go here if you're in a rush!

Ok, so the Marks and Spencer food is good... you can't beat their sandwiches and things...

...and it's in a handy location near to work for when I've just about made it there with no petrol in the tank... i can just roll down Portslade high street and in...

... but EVERY time I go in there seems to be a queue out the door... it's so frustrating. There are plenty of tills, just no staff to man them... it's enough to put me off going here.

This BP service station on Hove/Portslade seafront has a mini Marks and Spencer and it just might change my life as it's on the way to and from work. Yummy salads and sandwiches and gorgeous cakes. It's small but perfectly formed. Just don't expect a carrier bag, from today they stopped giving them out for free.
