Great bar!

28 May 08, 13:21 4* Above expectations

This is a lovely little bar and is also open late which is rare in Canterbury. There is a great downstairs to this bar which looks like it has been built in an old cellar... all stone walls, very cool! Plays great music here and the drinks are great if not a little pricey for students. Definatley worth a visit.

Cavernous

A cavern of a place and if you're taking someone out in Canterbury you can certainly do worse.

Find yourself a nook or cranny to hide away in. Looks tiny upstairs but opens out downstairs and even manages to hide a dance floor in the place.

One of the better bars in Canterbury which suffers from a very bland nightlife

What a Great Cave!

27 Nov 07, 16:00 4* Above expectations

I love this place, I don't really know why, but I really do. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that Canterbury has very few good after hours night spots.

Alberry's always seems to host a much older crowed, as opposed to the 16-18 year olds that populate the rest of cities night haunts.

Some of the best nights out I have had in Canterbury have been in Alberry's and I spent last New Years Eve here and wasn't disappointed.

It has two bars both upstairs and down and seating on both levels. The downstairs is like a cave in the sense that I think it is an old celler and the tunnel like celling gives the feeling that you are in a cave. This idea never fails to amuse me when drunk. Oh I should mention this is the Dj and dance area.

Friendly staff, and always a good crowd. Drinks are really reasonable and on some nights they have buy one get on free offers. The music varies from night to night, so do check if you have specific tastes.

Best place to have a dance in Canterbury

a good night out...

Personally I don't think there are that many good places to go out in Canterbury and this is as probably as good as it gets. Auberry's is a wine bar but it also has an area to dance downstairs in the basement. This place has a nice feel to it and quite a buzzing atmosphere. Drinks are not too expensive. There is seating upstairs and a small area downstairs. There are two bars with one being situated next to the dance area. There are different themed nights with good dj's. This is a good place for a night out on the town!

fun with rum!

01 Nov 07, 16:07 4* Above expectations

This is the only late night venue in Canterbury that I will willing go to! During the day Alberry's is a wine bar and bistro in the evening it is more of a drinking and dancing venue! It is the night time side of Alberry's I am reviewing. Canterbury is very short on decent places to go when the pubs shut. The other venues mainly cater for a very young crowd and persistently play terrible music! Alberry's caters for a much larger age group and plays a wide selection of music which varies depending on the night. The music ranges from break beat to house and drum n base to electro which means that most people will find some music to suit them. The bar has an extensive cocktail menu and stocks the largerst selction of rums you will probably ever see! It is a fairly small venue so can get pretty crowded and certain downstairs areas have very low ceilings so not good for tall people. After 10 pm an entry fee of £4 is charged. All in all though, it is a pretty good venue. Thursday nights are buy one get one free, before midnight, on mainline spirits so that always makes for a cheaper night out.
