Beyond expectations
If you want to find the sweets from your childhood, but can't wait to have them delivered via the internet then this place will probably stock them
Sweets stocked in jars and measured out in to quarters (or whatever the poxy Euro metric law is now anyway)
It's like being a kid again and somehow they taste so much better from a tiny paper bag than a plastic wrapper bought off a supermarket shelf.
I'll often wander along the streets dreaming that I'm 7 again and ready to be signed up as a professional football. Once I'm finished I'm back to the crashing reality that I really wasn't that good at football

A Sweet Emporium

Above expectations
If you love sweets you will love this shop and even if you don't love sweets its worth a look anyway. In a tiny shop next to the King's School, this is an old fashioned sweet shop, it only sells sweets! The walls are entirely lined with jars of sweets, which looks amazing and the shop has a lovely cosy feel to it. It sells pretty much every type of sweet you can imagine from aniseed balls to rhubarb and custards. This approach for me is so much better than pick n mix as all the sweets are in jars it means that they have not been touched by hundreds of dirty hands! I could spend ages just browsing in this store looking at all the different types of sweets. Black Jacks and Fruit Salads are still sold for one penny each in this store which I think is brilliant! Once you have made your selection, harder than it may sound, you take it to the counter where it is weighed and placed into red and white stripey paper bags...perfect!
