Cafe Des Amis is a fantastic restaurant, fajitas highly recommended! The food has been excellent every time I've been and it is still my favourite mexican in the area by far. The atmosphere is cosy and warm and the staff have always been friendly and welcoming. I'm always looking for an excuse to go there and even though it is always busy that never puts me off. Definately worth visiting.

Hi to you all that like a good nosh..... This place is excellent. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. It reminds me of being in some kind of student chill zone. But there is a real mix of people that go there. The music is apparent, not low which adds to the atmosphere. the food is pretty good too. Always washed down with the house red, which is paletable and a sparkling water. Wish they did Chilli con carne, dont know why they dont. I aksed and they didnt know, perhaps I was being crass, but I like Chilli...! Anyway, if you are in Canterbury and with a panging for chilli, why not try this place. Its fun !!

This is an excellent Mexican restaurant near the river in Canterbury with a really fun atmosphere. The fajitas are excellent - but why not try something a bit more unusual it's all good. The only down side is it has two sittings, I know why restaurants do it but it is annoying if you want to make a night of it.

Good fun this place and really colourful. I always judge a mexican place by its fajitas and this one hit exectations. Gets busy, so dont expect a long night.. but bring friends and you'll have a blast.

As expected
I had heard great things about Café des Amis from friends and to be perfectly honest was a little disappointed. I went after seeing a show at The Marlowe and thought that the food was just OK - nothing special.
The restaurant itself is a little bit out of the ordinary with a nice look and feel with some homely touches, but the food doesn't really live up to this in my experience.
lovely food...

This is a small, but lovely restaurant. The food is gorgeous and the surroundings of St. Dunstans is such a lovely place to enjoy dinner.
I recommend checking out this place if your visiting the city or even if your a local who's not made it in yet!!
Well worth it.

Great Mexican food. The Mole sauce is great and not quite what you think when you glance at the menu for the first time
You can buy all the art that's on the walls and it's got a great feel to it.
Great for a date, Great for a group night out. I love it, and it's in a top location next to the westgate, plus there's a carpark right next to it. Perfect if you can convince someone else to drive so you can have a drink

Great authentic food, in a great location just by the Westgate and the River - Too much nice food to mention but Chikcen Fajitas are memorable. It can be very busy and with two sittings so if you don't want to be rushed go for the later one

This is one of my favourite restaurants, it serves authentic and super tasty mexican food. The nachos are the best I have ever had. I can reccommend the Pollo Verde and the fajhitas to share (well actually I would reccomend any of it to you). As you can tell the food is all really impressive. They also serve yummy pina coladas. The atmosphere is really great. There is mexican music playing and the decor is rustic, bright and inviting. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food is reasonably priced. This is a "must" place to visit!

Cafe des Amis is well located next to the historic Westgate Towers and the River Stour. Inside it is brightly decorated in blue and white with original art hanging on the walls and from the ceiling. The wooden tables are placed too close together for my liking leaving you feeling like you are intruding on the next door diner's conversations. The menu consists of a selection of Mexican classics such as nachos and fajitas which are pretty good but over priced, steak fajitas for 2 being £25. There also Mexican dishes with a twist such as duck confit with a mole sauce and mashed potato. Last time I dined at Cafe des Amis I chose the salmon fillet with a coconut lime sauce, grilled asparagus and saffron rice. Both the salmon and the asparagus were extremely over cooked. This restaurant is very popular and on busy nights has 2 sittings and you often feel rushed if you dine in the first sitting. The staff are always pleasant but are often too busy to provide excellent service.

This is a super tasty mexican restaurant in town, the food is so great that it cant even be compared with Origins up on campus. During the afternoon there is always a cheap offer on meals. In the evenings a main will cost around a tenner and I recommend the sizzling chicken fajitas for two. They also have much less commercial meals- such as chicken covered in chocolate- its not my favorite but it certainly tastes 'different',
