Cuban nights

26 Jun 08, 22:53 4* Above expectations

The Cuban bar in Canterbury High Street, is different from other pubs locally, it looks small from the outside but is a tardis, it goes back far and wide.

the pub has a great atmosphere, cocktails, salsa and plenty of seating. the foods good too.

the only downfall to the Cuban is their drinks cost, its the sort of place you take someone who you want to impress you and you don't offer to go dutch! worth a try, great night out.

nice place

30 Apr 08, 15:05 4* Above expectations

this is one of the nicer venues on canterbury high street.

it's in a lovely old building that i used to know what it was - library springs to mind but i can't remember now!!

the prices in here aren't that bad however you have to eat at the right time. Without being rude i think they have an assistant chef - as sometimes the food is a bit poor.

A tast of Cuba

31 Oct 07, 11:41 3* As expected

The Cuban is a part of a small chain with about 4 or 5 bars and restaurants in the UK. The one in Canterbury is in a fanatastic historic building on the high street and is well worth a visit even if it is just to have a look around. The bar serves an extensive drinks menu including Cuban beer and many cocktails. The cocktails are very good but slightly pricey. The restaurant serves a selection of tapas and main meals with a Cuban twist. I find the food to be quite variable, sometimes it is spot on and other days it is either burnt or a little undercooked. The service is generally pretty good and the staff are pleasant. The only problem is that there are not always enough staff especially at busy times and the queue for the bar can be phenomenal at times espcially on a Friday and Saturday night. A very good venue for mid-week drinks though, with a really good atmosphere.
