A great place to drink, whatever your mood!

The Riverside Inn is ideally situated on the edge of the town, so you can visit there after a long day at work, or stop for some lunch before heading into the town to shop. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed, yet sociable. The pub is perfect for lunch and dinner with an appertising menu to offer, such as main dinners or lighter bites. The food is reasonable, tasty and arrives promptly at your table. My favourite aspect of the pub is the beer garden. Located right on the river, it is perfect for a lunchtime meal, a catch up with friends or an evening out. There are a lot of tables to accomodate large groups and there is a really lovely atmosphere when the pub is busy and the sun is shining. By far, one of my favourite pubs to visit.

Riverside Out

22 May 08, 17:15 3* As expected

The Riverside Inn is a very large Pub offering Food, Drink & Accomodation on the River Chelmer also its next to The Ice & Leisure Centre. I have been on a few leaving doo's to this pub as its cosy, comfortable and countryfied in design, with a Large Bar and Plenty of staff, The Riverside offers a wide selection of drinks from lagers to pimms.

The garden is where this pub excels over looking the river I can't think of any better place to be on a warm day, especially if you a smoker! This would be ideal.

The food i'm afraid is not all that, I know 2 people who have been ill after eating here, but they had the same thing so it could have been a dodgy batch of something.

Average Staff, Nice Atmosphere, Cracking Garden, Beer OK

great for drinks

This is just great for drinks, but especially for delicious food. They do wonderful pizzas, and it's a great place to go for a quiet meal or a bigger function with lots of people. The service is great, the location is beautiful - try and get a seat next to the window where you can look out onto the river, as the name suggests.

Great carvery, great garden and Pimms on tap

14 Apr 08, 18:02 4* Above expectations

The Riverside Inn's my local and it's great at any time of year. Cosy and friendly during the winter and in the Summer its beer garden on the river comes into its own. There's a nice mix of young, old and families and the staff are always really friendly - especially the owners. I can't speak highly enough of the Sunday carvery - whenever I have friends to stay for the weekend I take them there because it saves me the bother of cooking a roast myself that could never live up to what you get at the pub anyway. And as if that's not enough...they also have Pimms on tap - pure class.
