I have only visited this theatre for the Christmas pantos, which are great. This venue is so beautiful, cosy and initimate - just the ideal setting for a panto.

Fab theatre, especially for panto

I was brought up in Eastbourne and have both performed here, and watched a multitude of shows.
It's small and intimate, which makes for a great atmosphere, especially for panto at Christmas time.
Last time I went was with my mum... we were the youngest in the audience by far, and had to contend with Betty in the row behind unwrapping her Werther's Originals all evening, but if you pick your show carefully, you're sure to have a good time.

Traditional

The Devonshire Park Theatre has been around for donkey's and is everything you'd expect from a traditional english performance venue.
I've only been at Christmas time for panto but really enjoyed the productions. The auditorium itself is quite lovely and it feels nice and intimate. That may have to do with how close the seats are to each other! It can also get a bit warm when it's full especially if there's a full house. If you love the theatre though...this place is a must.

Pick a good night...

I have been to quite a few comedy nights here and they've all been pretty good. The venue is pretty good, as long as it's full but it is looking a little shabby around the edges. The bar is ok but can get really busy during the intervals, so best to get in a little earlier. The food is your typical 'in a basket' meals but it's ok. Plus, they do jugs of beer which is always a winner!

Great theatre

I love this theatre. I've both performed there and seen shows there. It's the best theatre space in the town by far and has the atmosphere for a play that the Congress Theatre sadly lacks. Although often full of the usual blue-rinsers the Eastbourne theatre scene attracts, if you pick a good show (and there are a good few throughout the year) it's a good place to go!
