Oxford River Stop

23 May 08, 15:11 3* As expected

The Head of The River is not a fabulous pub by a long stretch of the imagination as everything needs a lick of paint and the pub itself is looking a little weary both inside & out... But it does have bags & bags of character.

Perfect summer pub as the outside beer garden area is just Huge offering unrivalled views of the River Thames where you can watch the rowing teams do what they do best. The inside is pretty big too with plenty of bar space and seating. Drinks are reasonably priced and food is slightly above average. Great Student Pub.

Great summer pub

This pub is great for a hot summer day when you want to have a drink out in the beer garden, it is always packed and you generally have to que to get a drink, the prices are quite expensive and also they dont serve shots so if you want to get on the booze then this is not the place for you, however if you want a quite drink on a sunday afternoon whilst watching the world go by then its perfect!

Great location

This pub is awesome, I've been here loads. My friend and I had lunch here and then got a boat out on the river a few months ago. It's got a gorgeous huge garden and the staff have always seemed very friendly. It does get very warm inside in the summer, but if you go in the winter it's really cosy. It's the perfect place to go to on a Sunday afternoon but I do need to warn you about two things.... 1. It gets REALLY busy 2. Parking is always really expensive in Oxford and parking near this place is a pain in the bum. Either get the park and ride or get dropped off

Brilliant pub for the Summer months, out in the garden, by the river with a beer.

Well worth going to, BUT if you are planning a long stay will warn you the prices are really expensive as is the food.... but worth paying once in a while.

29 Apr 08, 11:51 5* Beyond expectations

this is truly one of the best pubs in the uk.

it's even a favourite of Ant from Ant & Dec fame - if you go here often enough you'll see the star - pint in hand sitting by the river!!

Had many a great evening in here.

Lovely people, lovely pub.

Perfect Summer pub

Fab central location in Oxford - situated on the river it is the perfect place to spend a summers afternon/evening. The interior isn't great but there is so much seating outside it doesn't matter! Wouldn't recommend it in bad weather! Can get very busy on perfect summer days.
