When you think of a typical country pub, the picture you have is the Catherine Wheel.
It has it all. Burning oak fire, nutty local real ales, a barman who has been there for over 20 years, South Africans shouting racist abuse, the lot!
Go through to the restaurant and experience the very best food you will ever eat in a pub.
I can heartily recommend the African Curry Pots. They take a bloomer loaf and scoop it out. Into the bread they stick the tastiest curry you've ever had and voila! If you can eat this you need not eat for another couple of days. Brilliant!
The pizzas are splendid too.
My advice : avoid the bar and tuck in!

In the heart of George Michael country, this small pub is great to meet with friends for a few beers. Great in the winter with its open wood fires and cosy feel. If you're tall, you may have to duck a bit to avoid the low ceilings! Food also available in the restaurant, good quality, good prices.
