Great for live music!

14 Jul 08, 19:34 5* Beyond expectations

I love going to the Hippodrome to watch a show with live music! It is a beautiful building and it has a great atmosphere. They have a variety of acts on like Motown and Soul nights, which always have the audience dancing and singing along.

Acoustics could be better

01 May 08, 13:51 3* As expected

One thing you can definately say about the Hippodrome is that they have some great shows, big names very often too. It's always a great atmosphere. But as Jess says they leg room isn't great... and the higher you go the hotter it is. The only air-con they have is the hole in the roof. (Look up next time you're there if you don't believe me) And the sound system could be improved... distorted music has really ruined my enjoyment of a couple of shows here

Great theatre

29 Apr 08, 07:57 4* Above expectations

A good theatre needs both atmosphere and accoustic. This one has both and furthermore there are great productions put on regularly. I've seen musicals, serious plays... all sorts here. A superb theatre

Sit in the stalls!

28 Apr 08, 13:12 3* As expected

This is a lovely theatre, very grand!

However if you are above 5 8" in height try and sit in the stalls as they don't leave much leg room!

This is the same with most theatres but if you get into the play then you forget about it annyway.

Make sure to book your interval drinks before you go in it saves loads of time!

I recently went to see South Pacific which was not the best, but I have seen other shows here that are great.

Nik and i went to the hippodrome to watch my alltime fav show, riverdance, had some great seats only 5 rows from the front and was thrilled by the whole performance! Its only 1 hr away so really handy for great shows like this

14 Apr 08, 15:59 5* Beyond expectations

I recently went here as part of my job but having lived in bristol all my life i was totally shocked at why i had never been before! It has so much character and the staff were friendly and extreamly helpful the show I was involved in was a performance of the jungle book by the big act which was fab - im definately going back.

Mama Mia!

Possibly the best show I have ever seen! Very funny and not what I expected. It was not a tacky musical, but full of great, humour. The Hippodrome always put on great shows!

Bristol Hippodrome

03 Oct 07, 11:14 3* As expected

I rently went to see Derek Achora at the Bristol Hippodrome, i was really impressed at his show and would definitely go back. I booked the tickets on the web three days before. The sweets and drinks on sale, are expectedly over priced but this didn't put us off having some beers and fruit gums! The whole building is delightful but obviously needs some tender love and probably a few hundred thousand pounds spending on it! I have recently bought tickets for the ice queen performed by the english national ballet.
