Above expectations
I love autobiographies and this place has a plentiful supply (just under the stairs to the right). It also has the coffee shop upsatirs with internet connection too, a great marketing idea and it works.

As expected
we found that this branch didnt really have the choice we had expected for a very large store in the city! The books we were after we for my daughter and very specific, after finding a lady to ask eventually she did manage to tell us that the only book left was at the smaller store by the cathedral!

Above expectations
This is my favourite of the two Waterstones in Exeter. It's not as cavernous as the branch up the road and it has as much bookshop atmosphere as you can get in one of these places. They do them stack 'em high sell 'em low bestsellers that all Waterstones do have to do, but they also make some effort with their displays to pick out some of the more interesting titles as well.
