super duper

A masterful fusion of a cafe and and a vintage clothing emporium. Used to spend hours rummaging for retro skinny tee-shirts and leather coats. Found some priceless gems in there like a 1960's John Collier velvet smoking jacket-designed by the same guy that made the uniform's for Sargent Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band... They is a chronology tot he layout, running from the 1920's to the present from the ground floor up to the gallery area upstairs. Its a great place to contemplate your next ensemble over a carrot cake and double shot cappuccino. Nice place to meet new cool people too. there is on one Real McCoy! Fabulous

If you are in Exeter you have to visit this shop - I have rarely seen anywhere like it - even in London!! It stocks real vintage clothes - none of that made to look old type stuff - this really is straight out of the seventies! Be warned some of it smells like it - but there are jems to be found everywhere!

Treasure Trove

If your looking for retro & second hand clothing or fancy dress, look no further. The Real McCoy has it all, from glamous dresses for hire to secondhand Levi's & accessories galore. The enclosed glassed cabinet where you pay is always worth a look for that special little something (collectable mirror compacts, watches & jewellery). The cafe next door is very friendly & the food consistantly good, although a little cold in winter unless the heaters are on. Bead shop next door in the Arcade (Buniyup) is amazing.

a hidden gem...

The Real Mcoy is situated in a strange little arcade away from the main of the high street, but its worth a walk down the hill. You walk into the "arcade" and you see the old school fronting of the shop with its tables and chairs outside. Thats right the real mcoy isnt just a super cool vintage store but also a place where you can hang out and get a drink and a bite to eat. Its a nice environment to be because its so unique, and as its in a covered area its a good place to be when the weather isnt so good. The food is alright but that isnt the main reason for coming here...its all about the clothes. The downstairs has a good range of men and womens vintage. Prepared to rummage as there are things hidden all over the place. There old shop drawers which are full of all sorts such as scarves, belts and braces. There is a section full of more delicate and special vintage pieces. Prices are quite reasonable, especially as there are no places like this in Exeter or the surrounding areas, as far as I know. Upstairs has more typical vintage items, such as leather jackets. They also stock fancy dress gear, which is pretty good. Then on the balcony there are just rails of all sorts of clothes some more desirable than others. As you can see the Real Mcoy has a lot to offer and its true to its name.
