Above expectations
This is an old converted train station and we stopped here on our way to Barnstaple along the Tarka Trail on our bikes. We had some cake and coffee and it was absolutely delicious plus it was great to sit outside overlooking the water. We then went on to Barnstaple to burn the calories off however, on the way back, we couldn't resist but to stop off at Fremington Quay once more, this time for some yummy ice cream. Be sure to have a quick look inside the old signal box for a better view of the area.

If you are on the tarka trail having a cycle day out with you family you MUST stop here. They do the "bestest" cakes ever and have really nice freindly staff. Ideal place to stock up those much needed rations ready for your adventure along the tarka trail.. great place in a fab location

the cakes are great! They used to do a gorgeous Dime Bar cake, I'm not sure if it is still on the menu, i'm going to have to stop in on the way home now! Good prices and a lovelly place to sit and relax on a lazy afternoon.

this place is tucked out of the way, but definitely worth a visit. the tea, coffee and cakes are well worth a sample. the toffee lumpy bumpy is a must. the views if you can sit outside are stunning. service is a little slow. very busy in the season, but still worth a visit

You must stop here, and even make it a destination wether its on the Tarka Trail or not! Set in a converted railway, the views are lovely across the river, and the food cannot fail to delight. Beautiful soups, fab cakes its all great, and mostly prepared and cooked on the premises. Highly recommended.

Beyond expectations
this place is a welcome stop off along the Tarka trail. Home made soup, extravegent cakes, over generous portions and hot chocolate to die for ... hell, forget the tarka trail bit, just go there for a snack in the car, theres plenty of parking. Its on Fremington Quay, just look out for the brown tourist signs

When you're out walking or cycling on The Tarka Trail this is a great place to stop. I believe that the building itself is a converted railway station and it's great for drinks and snacks.
