Well below expectations
But hopefully not for good: the sign outside promises that it's currently being refurbished etc. The best way to get there is on the Tarka Line: it's just over the road from the station at Umberleigh, and that way you don't have to worry about the parking or the driving.

As expected
I like this pub a lot, but sadly it always seems to be "locals only" if u know what i mean. You sorta feel like the unwanted guest at a party. The local obviously love it and it IS the hub of the community. Food is good, beer is better, beer garden is nice of an evening - mainly to escape tha glare of the other guests.

Above expectations
Everytime i drive past this pub, i wish i was with the group of people having a giggle in the garden at the front. Umberleigh seems to be protected by a ball of sunshine. It is always sunny when i pass through. This pub is fab in the summer. Good beer at good prices and a great local athmosphere.
