So much better now that the place has has a face lift - thats probably the reason why so many BIG names come here now. Its sort of become a testing ground for acts to try new material, before taking the show on the road. Saw this with Lee Evans who appeared here, tried the new act, then toured the rest of the country 6 months later.

You get some surprisingly big pre and post West End touring shows in the main auditorium here, but I have always had a bit more fondness for the smaller Drum. You may not get the same size names/shows, but there's a bit more variety and new stuff.

I love the Royal in Plymouth and will never forget the shows i have seen there. The seating is comfortable with ample elbow room and the stage is great! Easy to view from all angles!
I saw Matthew Bournes Swan Lake here. He will be touring in 2009. Be sure to book tickets! It will take your breath away.

The Theatre Royal has had some of the best shows prior to opening in the West End. The view of the stage is accesable from all angles and the sound is excellent. However if you dont like heights dont sit in the top tier! I had to leave one of their productions as I felt sick! Not actually eaten there but my parents have siad that at lunch time it is quite reasonable.

I've got be honest I used to dread going to see a show at the theatre becuase the seats were so small it was uncomrtable. I'm 5ft 7 and my knees were wedged into the seats in front and it was just very small.
They have a had a big refurb and the seats are a lot better. That said the theatre puts on some lovely production and the sound is brilliant.

A brilliant theatre

They attract some amazing shows, the venue is always pleasant and clean, and the staff all seem friendly.
There's a couple of bars within the theatre, so you can go along before your show, have a drink with your friends, then go in and watch some incredible theatre!
Seating is all comfortable, and I've never been in a seat where it's been hard to see the stage.
The annual Panto is definitely one to take the kids along to, it'll keep them entertained for a few hours and will give them (and you) some brilliant memories.
I actually went and saw an opera here a couple of years back. I'm not a fan of opera at all, but this really changed my opinion on it - it was a great evening out, and I felt very cultured! Give it a try!
