5 reviews for Blacksmith Arms

Stylish Eating in North Devon

16 Jun 08, 11:14 5* Beyond expectations

Stylish surroundings, friendly service and excellent food - what more could you want for a meal? The Blacksmiths Arms in Bideford delivers on all counts.

With tables available both inside and on the decked outside areas this is an all-weather venue. Families, including dogs, are always welcome, and access is both at street level and from the famous Tarka Trail for walkers and cyclists.

Quality and style are not compromised with these green credentials. The facilities are outstanding and local produce is used in both traditional and more adventurous dishes. Presentation is excellent.

This is somewhere for both locals and visitors to enjoy time and again.

Tarka look at this place! (see what I did there?)

24 May 08, 08:09 4* Above expectations

This place is a really old building but clean and modern inside and was a welcome stopping point on the way back from a 15 mile bike ride along the Tarka Trail. We chained our bikes up and walked down the steps to the decking area on the rear terrace. We ordered 2 ham and cheese toasted sandwhiches, chips and a pint - perfect. They put loads of cheese in and it was grilled to perfection. I could've sat there all afternoon but sadly we had to cycle back to the car which was parked at Instow.

Food is Great

30 Apr 08, 08:17 4* Above expectations

This pub is a bit off the bbeaten rat run of bideford pubs. Its actually the East the Water side of the old bridge in a small street. Its the sort of pub you head for , then stay in. The food is exceptionally good. What I'd call tradional pub grub. My wife works for a local clothing company and they have their staff Christmas parties here every year. cheap but GREAT food ....

Shame about the location.

If you are out in town then it is a pain the walk all the way accross the bridge to drink at the Blacksmiths. Saying this, if you do venture over there, you won't be disappointed. It is a lovelly pub. Good prices, good food, good times.

great food

24 Apr 08, 08:32 4* Above expectations

since being taken over by Rob Braddick and refurbished this has become a great place to drink and eat. Alot of functions are held here for companies and there is a beer garden at the back for families. Parking a pain and located in Bideford East rather than the main avenue of pubs
