The Duke of York wins every single award going and it's not difficult to see why. Roaring log fire, excellent beer and some really good food. Get your Sat Nav out now and set it for Iddesleigh: you won't regret it!

Beyond expectations
My mum is always raving about the Duke of York, set in the rural village of Iddesleigh, West Devon. Naturally, when my lady friend and I visited her recently, we decided to (finally) try it out. My dear mother was not wrong. This lovely country pub oozes in tradition and sophistication and the food is to die for. The lovely landlord welcomes you in with local ales and a friendly smile. If you find yourself in deepest, darkest Devon, make sure you stop in the Duke of York.
