St Fagans is a great day out for all the family. I've taken my little girl lots of times, on our own, with friends and with family. Each time has been different and we have discovered different parts each time. It is a really cheap day out entrance is free, and if you take a picnic you can have a great day out for very little expense. There is lots to see and learn, and also lots of spaces to run about, last time my little girl was paddling in the pond with her friends!!!!

Beyond expectations
When the twins , my nephew and my niece were young, I used to take them to St. Fagans for the day including my mum. We always have a great day out. We even paid for the annual subscriptions to use the facilities there. Its even better now since it is free to get in. Children can run around without the need to worry about cars. There are no dogs around...just nature. They love to go into each of the houses and look at the difference in each of them while my mum could just relax with a cup of tea. we have lovely picnics overthere and also if the weather is not good there are lovely restaurants over there. For treats, there is a 'rail' ride and also a horse and carriage rides provided. There is a lovely bakery right in there. To round off the day we usually have lovely ice creams and the children also have a good run in the playground too in their respective sections for the older children and the younger ones. The lists can go on and on.......

I take my children to St Fagans at least 4 times a year. It is easily accessible, fairly buggy friendly and the best part of all is that it is free. All you have to pay for is the car park which is reasonably priced. You can take a picnic and eat it on the grounds, you can wander around the old fashioned shops, the children can play in the playground and the adults can get a history lesson! My favourite thing there at the moment is the house of the future which shows how we can be more environmentally friendly.

St Fagan's is not like any other museum I've been to, it's an open air museum which tells the story of everyday life in Wales over the last 500 years. It provides its visitors with an insight into the heritage and culture of Wales. This museum is great for all age groups as it offers the opportunity to dress up in traditional old clothing for the children and there are native breeds of varying livestock around the grounds. I have been going to St. Fagan's for as long as I can remember but I always think that the best time to go is around Christmas, its like a miniature Christmas Wonderland.
