As expected
To come here you must be either of two sorts of people. those that cash in your giros and spend it all in here, or those that really do genuienly love live music in a drink soaked atmosphere. Its friendly enough and they do different themed nights during the week.

The Spotted Dog

Above expectations
This pub is in a bit of a backwater in Digbeth, and as such, is a bit off the beaten track. However, it's well worth a visit if you're after a night of chilled out live music and a very genuine pub atmosphere. The drinks here are cheap and cheerful, and the bar is usually being propped up by at least three or four regulars who look like they spend about 23 hours of their day there! The bar staff are usually very friendly, and it's a great favourite with the pre-Sanctuary crowd who go there for a few quiet bevvies before a big night out. I'm a big fan of live music, and really enjoy going to some of the open mic nights they have at The Spotted Dog. However, I'm not sure how long these will remain a fixture for the venue, as there are apparently plans to close it down, which would be an incredible loss for Birmingham's live music and pub scene.
