Below expectations
This has been re-kitted out and isn't quite the old dark pub it once was but it still doesn't have the atmosphere of a great place. Still likely to be full of older guys sipping their ale in the daytime with a sprinkling if students in the evenings.

As expected
This is the Selly Oak pub that the locals tend to frequent, rather than the students. It's cheap, with a simple pub food menu - burgers, pasta dishes etc. If you're looking for a student night out, or a pub with a really good food menu, then this probably isn't the place, but it's not bad for a quiet drink every now and again. It is a little bit rough - fights do tend to break out, but nothing major happens. Overall, it's a simple, not especially homely, but clean and spacious pub.
