Too cool for school...

28 May 08, 18:20 4* Above expectations

...but then school was rubbish, and whats wrong with that, yes it's a bit pretentious, but then it's the coolest bar on the Mailbox. It's just had a wedge of money spent on its facelift...and you can't get more ponsey than that. I like it a lot, and the Tuesday pizza deals are worth a visit too.

Bar Room

26 May 08, 20:50 4* Above expectations

Bar Room is a relaxed and chilled pub which isnt hussling with youngsters bumping into you. Its quite a mature bar and attracts a stylish clientele.

Love it!

The best pub in the Mailbox. Always lively on a Saturday afternoon. Great location overlooking the canal and reasonable prices for the city centre. Really good place to start the night off with.

To get to the toilet.....

30 Apr 08, 15:21 3* As expected

is like climbing mount etna. Takes ages. Apart from that it's okay.

Recently refurbed its quite a trendy little hole. However I do think it tries too hard.

Apparently the pizzas are good. They look alright from a distance

Hmmm maybe I'll try again

29 Apr 08, 13:39 2* Below expectations

I've never been keen on this bar. Can't quite put my finger on it, but I must admit I haven't been since this so called refurb... maybe I'll try it again if only to see if they can actually serve cold drinks now! The wine and beers have always been tepid as the fridge doors are opened so often and the bar gets very very hot in the summer - especially the girls loos which are all the way at the top of the stairs. Stifling!

My Favourite Bar in Brum

28 Apr 08, 19:45 3* As expected

I'm loving bar room bar since it's refurb earlier in the year. It's clean and stylish with a nice bunch of friendly staff and customers.

The food menu isn't vast, but it does serve a good selection of nice Pizzas, which are buy one get one free on a Tuesday night - why bother cooking!?

Friday and Saturday nights are really busy, so it can take ages to get served.

I was very impressed with the hand driers in the toilets! Might seem like astrange observation, but when you go in - check them out and you'll know what I mean!

Top Choice

24 Apr 08, 14:26 3* As expected

I think this is one of the best bars to go to in the city centre in the week. Since the re-furb it is far more relaxed and has lost its trashy edge. The buy one get one free offer on a Tuesday is really good value for money as you get 2 huge pizzas for less than £8! There is a good mix of people, from your after work drinkers to students and older couples. There is a really good vibe on a Friday and Saturday night where they have a dj, although it can take a long time to get served on these nights. If you want to go to the Mailbox and fancy somewhere a bit more lively on the weekend then you should definitely pay bar room bar a visit!!

Bar Room Bar Birmingham

12 Apr 08, 07:21 5* Beyond expectations

Recently refurbished this is a very modern, great looking bar and restaurant ideal for couples in the early evening and as a trendy hang out at night. On Fridays and Saturdays you can expect classy DJs with great tunes and this place does get quite busy with its reputation as a cool place to go.
