Tropical World is an unexpected surprise in the city. Well worth a drive out to Roundhay Park and find it across from there.
Once it was free, but even this small charge nowadays, allows you to visit this and enjoy our natural world.

Tropical World is, absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, Leeds' finest tourest attraction. Incredibly authentic, Tropical World takes the visitor on a journey around the equator, through desert and rainforest and back round to the start, witnessing some of the most amazing wildlife on Earth. Particularly suited to families with young, inquisitive children, but a whole lot of fun for people of any age, Tropical World is a must-visit location in Leeds.

Beyond expectations
A childhood favourite for myself and many other Leeds locals, it was refreshing to revisit the Tropical World attraction in Roundhay Park as a twenty year old and still be impressed with it. A short bus ride from the city centre, it was once free entry, there is now a small charge to pay- £3.00 for adults and £2.00 for children- but this is definitely worth it. Visitors can experience a relaxing walk around an area cultivated to look like a rainforest, with many animals, birds and exotic plants to spot. Butterflies roam free. Children love the meerkats, terrapins and large tropical fish tanks. There are also some beautiful gardens to enjoy, a gift shop and a reasonably priced cafe serving good lunch items, so there is something for everyone.
