How spicy?

What is your preferred curry? Do you like your curries to be industrial-strength spicy or are you a fan of the milder korma style? Do you think people who like really hot curries are idiots or can't you wait to burn your mouth with the hottest vindaloo?

Curry should definitely be spicy, but there is a limit.

Vindaloos and alike seem to be made for people who just want to impress their mates, there is no taste there.

I think I'm a 30 - 50,000 man:

Heh, I love the Scoville scale, it's such a rubbish scale! I'd say I was a 0 - 15,000 guy myself. Bit of a pussy really...

Some of the best curries I've had have been completely non-hot (cool?) zero-ish Scovilles, it's a lot nicer to taste the flavour of a good quality curry without it needing the hot spices.

There is taste in spice, it can just go a little too far.

Dare i say it: you've got to put some spice in your life Rik.

Agreed the Scoville is rubbish. Can they actually tell the difference between a 15,000,001 curry and a 15,000,002 curry? I doubt it.

Some non-spicy curries can be good, but those Kormas and coconut ones are just plain wrong.

Kormas and the like have a place!!! They are a good balance with the more spicier ones. I've learnt to tolerate a little bit of spice but being Australian, I tend to find pepper a little bit spicy... Each to their own I say.
