I went to a local Race Night hosted by MAT MEDIA and I've got to say what a fab night we had!! It was so much fun and we raised lots of money for our fund!! MATT MEDIA were professional and most importantly very friendly and easy going!! I have never attended a race night before but I will be recommending them to my friends and hopefully attending another really soon!!
Brasserie Chez Gerrard, CH1
have the steak
Rebecca W. says:
I was lucky to head along and sample the new spring menu a few weeks back and the whole place is fantastic. The restaurant has a contemporary laid back feel and the staff are so warm and freidnly (and attractive). The food is delicious and no small portions here! I highly recommend having the steak - one of the best meals i've ever had!
Gusto, CH60
Gusto restaurant - seriously you'll eat with Gusto here
Lisa M. says:
I love this restaurant. It's on Telegraph Road where Est Est Est used to be. It closed down, had a facelift - a stylish one and came back better than ever as Gusto. The setting is stylish and cosy at the same time and you will most definitely get great food! From mussels and lobster to premium charcoaled steaks and pizzas to die for there really is something for everyone. If you've got a birthday coming up go to Gusto, the staff are great and make a real fuss of you without breathing down your necks and your evening really will be special. It's a 5 star rating from me.
Walrus, M4
Walrus
Christopher D. says:
The first aspect of Walrus which I feel obliged to highlight, are the plate glass doors as you enter. I mention these so that you don’t suffer a similar fate as me, and confidently stride straight in to them.
Luckily I suffered no serious injury and was able to enjoy, what I would consider to be, one of the best bars that Manchester’s Northern Quarter has to offer. The live DJ energizes the place but doesn’t dominate, the drinks selection is creative and the décor is flamboyant but falls short of garish.
Food wise, Walrus has created what it calls a ‘canteen lounge environment’. What they actually mean by that is not clear, but the menu did look quite adventurous and alternative with an Asian theme running through it.
Walrus has only been open since December of last year but its popularity is sure to grow.
Faulkner Arms, CH2
The Faulkner Arms
Christopher D. says:
If looking for somewhere to drink on Faulkner Street, be very careful to go into The Faulkner Arms and not The Bromborough Arms. The Bromborough Arms is mostly full of tattooed men boasting about which other tattooed men they once threatened to punch. The Faulkner Arms is not and it provides a great setting for an after work drink or a pre-night out get together.
Perhaps a little pricey for that end of town, The Faulkner offers a good blend of community local pub with contemporary stylish bar (which it is keen to demonstrate through a selection of outlandish cushions). It has a decent selection of drinks and the staff go along way to help create a sociable and sophisticated atmosphere. In fact the barmaid once offered to shell my pistachios nuts, although looking back now it’s clear she was mocking me.
Don’t let its location amongst two betting shops put you off; it’s a great little bar.
