The big watering hole in the sky
Dan H. says:
If you could take an eternity's supply of ale on your final journey, what would you choose?
Assuming I could commandeer a substantially sized spiritual donkey, I'd load it up with the following delights:
Bluebird Bitter – Coniston brewery
A prince of an ale. I don't think I've ever had a better pint than in the Queen's Head, Troutbeck. All the magic of the Lake District is packed into a single drop of this stuff.
Bombardier Burning Gold – Well's
As bottled beer goes, this one has to take the biscuit. As golden as a game of midsummer cricket, this is light and crisp enough to drink until you fall over. Magnificent.
Old Jock – Broughton Ales
A burly and well-formed scot, this ale packs some serious punch under its sporran. At 6.7% abv, it's not for the faint-hearted, but it's dark richness will warm your cockles on the coldest of evenings.
