Review of Royal Teas

Tea shop with a heart
Royal Teas is a warm and quirky haven from the trendy but soul-less coffee shop chains which are overwhelming London's high streets. The tea shop menu is all vegetarian, and in spite of being slightly suspicious of things 'non-meaty' there are a number of items on the menu like their American Breakfast (bean mix in a tortilla, topped with cheese, salsa, fried eggs and fried potatoes) and their herbed eggy bread that I would lead a riot for if there was even the suggestion of changing the menu. Each day there is a different main course lunch - my wife had an excellent sweetcorn curry the other day. More so than the menu, is the sense of being in a place that is unique and special. The place is slightly laid back and I find I relax into it - the staff are exceptionally kind and before long you start to get the reassuring sense of being a regular. The best indicator of how well loved this venue is, is how frequently it is heaving with customers, snoozing pets and mumbling kids. Itis often the thought of not getting a table that finally propels me out of bed just before opening time on a Sunday morning.
