Review of Wahaca
22 Jun 08, 19:41
Great Food, Ridiculous Wait
Wahaca is great, the food is good and they serve Pacifico beer (the latter being a reason to like them alone) but the worst thing is the no reservations system.
We've frequently abandoned dinner plans here due to the fact that there is usually a 2 hour wait on a Saturday night for a group of 4. If there are just two of you, it's not so bad at about 20-40 minutes but it's a testament to the popularity of the place.
The food is good but get there early.

Review of Clos Maggiore

Excellent French Restaurant
Covent Garden is generally hit and miss with a multitude of food outlets catering for tourists and I was pleasantly surprised by Clos Maggiore.
Exhaustive wine list, superb food and great ambience mean that I'll certainly be going back. £180 for 3 people including a £50 bottle of wine is not unreasonable given the quality of food and service.

Review of The Lighthouse

Great Neighbourhood Seafood Restaurant
The Lighthouse is situated in no man's land really which is a bit of a shame because it's a real find. It's a firm favourite of ours and the food is always well prepared using high quality ingredients. Their salads always look like they've just been picked right from the garden and there is always a great selection of fish on the menu.
It's what a good neighbourhood restaurant should be.

Review of Dovetail

Great Belgian Beers
This is a great pub staffed by knowledgeable bar tenders who are well informed on all the beers.
It can get a bit rammed and 'intimate' at times but the food is good, the beers equally so. Mussels as you'd expect are a good draw card and the place has personality and I've found myself spending more time than I'd intended to in The Dovetail which is not a bad thing!

Review of The Breakfast Club

Bags of personality...
I frequently have meetings in SOHO and TBC is a great place to have a meeting, it feels personal and I like the coffee. Breakfasts are also good and I prefer to support places like this versus Starbucks which is just round the corner. Really recommended and free WI-FI too which is really handy.

Review of Lundums

Danish Delight!
Ok, so the review title is a bit naff but the food certainly isn't. The interior is lovely and having recently visited in Winter, it's especially cosy and we found it easy to justify stretching to petit fours, coffees and so on. I enjoyed Lobster Bisque, Belly of Pork and a Fig Tartin - all superb. Service is excellent too with friendly, attentive staff.

Review of Benugo

Great sandwich shop
One of my favourite sandwich shops, good selection of sandwiches and salads. They also do excellent coffee and I'm a big fan of their mocha.
Timing is everything and if you leave it past 12:20 to get your lunch, expect a lengthy queue.

Review of $ Grills and Martinis

Great Martinis
We visited $ (despite the chintzy exterior) for a quick drink on a Saturday afternoon.
They do fantastic martinis and it was pleasant just relaxing in the comfort of the downstairs bar. It has a very boudoir feel actually and we came away very relaxed, if not a little drunk.

Review of Black and Blue

Lovely prawns...
Steak, burgers and prawns are the three things that I associate with Black & Blue. One thing that is particularly good about the restaurant is the space, double height ceilings and American style diner booths provide a welcome respite if you've just done battle with the crowds on Oxford Street.
I'm shamefully addicted to their King Prawns with garlic aioli. I'm making myself hungry just thinking about them.

Review of Strada
30 Sep 07, 09:42
Excellent Italian
The problem with chains is that they can be hit or miss depending on which branch you visit. The Strada is Brunswick Square is certainly the best Strada I've ever eaten at in my view. The staff are really friendly and service is prompt and efficient. It's also relatively inexpensive and you feel you get good value.
Recommended items on the menu - Aglio, Gamberoni, Spaghetti al Ragu or Linguine alla pescatora.

Review of Tandoori Raj
25 Sep 07, 21:30
Great Indian
The Raj is our local Indian and is such a great curry house. We've never actually eaten in the restaurant, we've tended to just get take away and the food over the past two years has been consistent and good.
Really fresh ingredients, good value and prompt delivery service make this a firm favourite.

Review of Pho Cafe
25 Sep 07, 21:20
Simply Excellent
Pho is a recent find despite the fact that I work less than than 100 yards away.
The food is excellent and offers very good value. Decor is minimal and treads the line between being too ethnic and authentic.
