Review of The Metropolitan Bar

Another Wetherspoons, another disaster
There is something telling about a pub which advertises itself with bright blue neon lights. Situated literally right outside Baker Street Tube Station, the Metropolitan is another example of why Wetherspoons should be closed. Spacious yes, cheap yes, but at the same time, this place is a prime example of how an open plan, brightly lit, pub can have absolutely no charm. Every time I've been into this pub, I've come away feeling uncomfortable and fed up. Wetherspoons staff never seem to be even remotely interested in their work, or willing to talk to you longer than is necessary, and yet again this place is the same. Factory line pubs... avoid them.

Average West Hampstead Pub
This is a fairly average pub serving the usual array of beers, wines and spirits as well as pub food. The food is nothing special however it is acceptable for the price and there is quite a large menu too. Beer prices are good especially compared the nearby pubs and although the clientèle can be a bit rough, there never seems to be any trouble. The staff are always friendly and helpful and I've found them to be very efficient even during busy periods - which means there's never too long a wait at the bar.

Review of Allsop Arms

Average pub. Good for food and television
There's been a few times that I've popped into the Allsop Arms, and whilst the experiences were memorable, it was more due to World Cup football or test Cricket than due to the pub. As far as pubs go, this place is relatively average. You can always rely on tolerable beer and good food, but it's one majorly redeeming feature is the big screens. Often packed for sporting occasions by "suits", you can always rely on a good enough experience in this pub. Just don't bother when it's quiet. An average pub, which improves when packed with customers.

Ok Pub in Bad Location
There isn't anything particulary wrong with this pub apart from one thing and thats its location. Slap bang in the middle where charing cross roads hits oxford street. This just leads to it being difficult just to get in to the pub! The pub itself is ok but there isnt much there and it isnt big enough for the numbers it attracts. I've been here several times before moving on to another pub and I would suggest you do the same.
