Review of Gigalum
29 May 08, 19:34
Clapham South's DJ Bar
Clapham South doesn't really have many bars or pubs.
Balham and Clapham Common is usually 'destination centrale' for bars.
Gigalum opened a year or so ago and is Clapham South's third bar. It's much more livelier than the Glow Lounge and Firefly and there are a lot of seriously beautiful wide eye'd and chatty people in here sipping cocktails and desperately trying to impress/pull.
It's open late and it's good to have this sort of Bar on your doorstep when you fancy a big night out. The main reason for coming is the huge terrace but be warned it can get very, very, very busy.

Review of Putney Station

Nifty
I've always walked past this place as I jump off the tube at East Putney. Why? Too dark inside, too metalic looking, a slightly older crowd perhaps. It wasn't until a friend suggested a drink there the other day that I ventured inside. How wrong can one be? It is in fact quite a nifty little place. We ended up staying for a bite to eat - houmus & bread to share, pizza, pasta - perhaps not the most exciting, but definitely quality fare and really quite reasonable. The best thing about the place was the service and dare I say its friendly atmosphere. I would definitely meet up there for a mid week drink/dinner again.

Review of Bellevue Health and Cosmetic Clinic

Californian Smile
Lee Hunt is the dentist/owner of Bellevue.
He’s a chatty and friendly guy who excels in his dentistry. He may over explain everything he's doing but at least he's telling you!!!
He’s been trained stateside and try’s to give everyone the Californian smile. If you opt for the later you’ll end up with a large bill. His normal work is affordable and offers decent value for money.
I used to hate dentists as a child but Lee is the best I’ve ever been to.

Review of British Airways London Eye
29 May 08, 17:59
I can see clearly now
I remember when a giant ferris wheel was first proposed and I honestly though that it was a joke.
I love the London Eye. There isn’t anywhere else on land that you’ll be able to see how vast yet small London actually is. This is a must for everyone who visits or lives in London. Apparently you can see over 40km on a clear day.
I suggest getting there early on a sunny day in an attempt to get a less cramped capsule. Don’t take pictures just enjoy the view and think about why it takes so long to get to work in the morning rush hour. You may also be amazed at how much open space we actually have.
The only view that betters the London Eye is flying into London City Airport.

Review of The Small and Beautiful

Local Star
This is a we love local star and deserves to do well. This is a small chain taking on the big boys, offering top notch food and drink at exceptional prices.
There aren’t many places that offer a fresh and varied menu at these prices - you’ll struggle to pay over £15-£20 a head including wine and service. I’m not sure how they manage to survive but it must down to filling the restaurant every night.

Review of London City Airport

Gotta Dash
I’d much rather get the Eurostar for a short break to Europe but if I have to fly – city airport is my favoured choice. It’s easy and cheap to get to on the DLR, it is only a hop skip and a jump to the plane and your bags are pretty much waiting for you when you get off the plane. All in all it is very stress free and this never seems to happen at the bigger airports. Also the approach is an experience as you don’t often fly past buildings and be able to see into windows!!!

Review of Vinopolis

How Much!!!
Vinopolois is a rainy afternoon activity, ideally before a night out.
You can learn quite a lot about wine in a short space of time and the best bit is you get to sample as you go along. The staff are friendly, helpful and very informative.
So why three stars? It feels tacky in places and it's not cheap. The tasting are well over £2 each and you're lucky to get two sips. My advice is to pop in before an evening meal taste a few wines, learn a little and use what you've learned in one of the local restaurants.

Review of The Exhibit
29 May 08, 14:04
Cinema Bar
The Exhibit is in Sainsbury's car park and is crying out to be picked up and plonked somewhere else.
The bar is well stocked with some excellent wines and an extensive cocktail list. The restaurant comes highly recommended. I’ve been here a few times over the last year usually as part of a big group – the food always hit the spot and the service consistently top notch.
My Girlfriend loves the décor and ambiance, so much so she went out and bought a few rolls of the flamingo pink wallpaper that they have in the downstairs bar. The bar is very cool and has a huge fish tank so when your bored of people looking cool you can spending time fish watching. We even have a few fish as well.
There’s also a cinema upstairs showing movies.
All good but agree with Owen M the Clarence is still the best bar in Balham but this restaurant is one of Balham’s best

Review of King Harry's Bar

Shanklin Sun Shine
This pub is easily missed. It is tucked away in a corner of the very picturesque Old Village in Shanklin. When visiting friends on IOW we used to frequent a pub called The Crab which is a few doors away, but this has the charm of a slick American Waitress after a tip.
King harry's Bar is an old Pub. I enjoy drinking a Warsteiner (There's no Carling or Fosters to be seen) in the winter next to the roaring fire. It's very intimate and the barstaff are very friendly. The beer garden is beautiful in the summer. Set among the backdrop of Shanklin Chine, it is a truly great place to chill out, forget about life and listen to the birds singing and the branches swaying.

Review of Muang Thai Cafe and Restaurant

Real Deal
This place is the real deal, and actually reminds me of the food you would get in Thailand. The staff are friendly and the menu has all the old favorites, at decent prices. My fave is the Tom Kha Gai Soup….its totally scrummy!! It’s not a special treat place, but definitely worth a midweek visit.
