Review of Sonnys Food Shop

Best Deli in Barnes Area
Without a doubt this is the best deli in the Barnes area. Delcan the manager is a legend and very knowledgeable about the cheeses, charcuterie they stock.
They've a great range of Italian items, I'd definitely recommend a visit there before you have friends over for dinner.
Worth a look also in the run up to Christmas for interesting biscuits, cakes and foody presents.

Review of Dansk Flowers

Very expensive but beautiful
I really reccomend this flower shop in the Wansworth Bridge Road.
You can select from their really unusual range and create your own bunch, or they have ready made ones.
The girls in there are really helpful and if you don't really know what you are looking for they can put something really beautiful together for you.
They also have pre-made pots with crocuses or hyacinths and things too.
Only draw back, be prepared to to make a big hole in you're wallet.

Yummy hangover food
This is the place that saves my life every Saturday morning after a big night out.
The menu has something for everyone, delicious home cooked food using the best ingredients from small producers - food with heart.
It's got a great atmosphere too, nice people working there and they do a damn fine coffee too.
Enjoy but don't go on a Saturday, I'd be gutted if I didn't get my cosy corner table.

Review of Majestic Wine Warehouse

Great offers
If you're having a do it's well worth paying Majestic a visit. You can only buy by the case, but they have really good offers.
If you go on a Saturday they have tastings too.
If you buy in bulk they have further reductions - if you're looking to do a big spend, I'd definitely check it out.

Speciality Wine Shop
If you don't know much about wine and you want to buy a good bottle for someone who does, then this is the place to go.
The owner is a master of wine, and obviously knows his stuff. Be aware that you'd be pushed to get anything for under £15 but if you want to spoil someone or get something really special then go here.
I got really good advice from the owner for a present for my uncle who's big into his wine and he suggested something for £20 which completely blew my uncle's socks off.
Great place to buy something for your Dad or Brother.

Review of Elizabeth King
19 Apr 08, 10:29
Definately the best in South West London
I've lived in the area my whole life, and kings has been there longer than me.
The buyers really know what they are doing, you can get almost anything in Kings whether it's really rare or just an every day ingredient.
They've interesting cheeses, and the newly opened butcher is good value.
I wouldn't buy wine from them as it's very expensive, but on the whole I'd give it 10/10

Wonderful Art Shop
Everything you could possibly want from a good art shop.
They stock many different brands of brushes and paints, as well as lovely gift items too. Good card and paper selection.
I could spend hours just browsing in here!

Review of The Blue Elephant
19 Apr 08, 08:39
A really special treat
If you want to have a seriously good Thai meal, the Blue Elephant is amasing.
I would save it for special occasions as it'll make a really big hole in your wallet. Their food is really delicate and light, not greasy like some Thai places.
They do a range of levels of spices, so if you don't like it too hot there's something for you. Or if you like to have your mouth blown off - they'll sort you out too!

Review of Fentiman Arms

Good gastro pub
The Fentiman Arms is about halfway down Fentiman Road in Vauxhall.
It's a cracking pub with really good food, and a warm and cosy atmosphere.
Try the Wild Boar Sausages and Mash - really good. They have a good range of wines at good prices too.
Definitely worth a try.

The Booat!
World famous the boat, which is moored on the Gateshead side put Newcastle on the map!
literally an old cruise ship, this monstrosity has a number of different rooms with different music and dancefloors.
Look out for the spinning dance floor on the bottom floor, try not to get one leg on the rotating floor and one on the ground!

Review of The Clapham Picture House

Indie Cinema at it's best
CPH shows a really great selection of Independent Films.
They do really interesting seasons based on directors, actors or themes. I'd go to their website and sign up for the newsletter to keep abreast of what seasons they are showing.
If you are into film - and I mean proper film, this is well worth a visit, plus it's cheaper than going to the soulless Vue or Cineworld!

Clean Style
Oka is a great shop if you like simple well made stylish furniture in mute woods or creams.
There range has an Asian feel to it with lots of teak and wicker materials.
They also do online sales and have a pretty comprehensive catalogue.

Review of Paxton and Whitfield
19 Apr 08, 07:57
Cheese-tastic
Just as the others have said this is the best and most authentic cheese shop in London.
They have a massive range of international and British cheeses along with lots of accompaniments and bits and bobs.
If you are going away for a smart weekend and want to impress I suggest you offer to bring the cheese board and pop down to Jermyn Street for a Paxton Special!

Review of Randalls Butchers
19 Apr 08, 07:55
The Best in London
It's true that Randall's is probably the most expensive butcher in London, but if you want the best you have got to pay for it.
The lovely Brian is also brimming with ideas, if there is a meat you haven't cooked or heard of he's always got quick and easy suggestions.
If you are on a budget, try the lamb burgers, or the ready mixed chicken stir fry.
I would avoid going on a Saturday as there is usually a queue out the door.

Review of The Sun
19 Apr 08, 07:33
Brilliant Summer Vibe
I especially love The Sun in the summer. There's a massive front garden which gets heaving in the summer. It always has the holiday feel about it, people in shorts and flip flops.
They do great Thai food if you fancy it in the week, as it's hard to get a table at the weekend. They also do a pretty mean Cosmopolitan!

Review of Go Gay Cleaners

Happy happy happy
Agreed, it's pretty sad to go bananas over a laundrette, but I simply love it based on the fact that every time I walk past it on a Grey Monday morning it makes me laugh!
Tatty and gross on the outside, lovely soapy and fun on the inside - plus it's cheap as chips and you get to make new friends when your washing machine breaks down.

Review of Kebab Kid
17 Apr 08, 08:47
I don't like kebab's but this will do
Being a girl, I'm not really into the kebab action, infact those gross looking slabs of brown meat on a stick glistening with grease are actually my idea of hell.
Kebab kid is a different kettle of kebabs - you get real pieces of chicken or lamb fillet grilled. The meat is fresh and you know what part of the animal (and which animal) it's come from.
It's the healthy eaters kebab joint and well worth the queues.
Highly recommend this, and the hand made fallafals are awesome.

Review of Hurlingham Pet Shop
17 Apr 08, 08:25
My dog's favorite place
This is a great pet shop. The guys have been there for over 20 years and really know what they are on about, I usually take my dog here before I take her to the vet.
They've got lots of great doggy goodies, as well as fun collars and leads. Tonnes better than the rip off joint down the road - Pugs and Kisses.

Review of Ebury Street Wine Bar
17 Apr 08, 08:12
Great for a quick office lunch
If you work in Victoria you can often be stretched to find a fun place for a client lunch, or somewhere for a quick early supper with a friend.
The Ebury Wine Bar has it all, a great snack type menu with antipasti plates, or chicken skewers. It's got a nice atmosphere, with affordable food, great wine list (obviously) and in a fun location.
Highly recommend this one if you work in the area.

Review of Vallebona Sardinian Gourmet
17 Apr 08, 08:05
Italian Goodness!
Only open on Saturday's to the public, Vallebona sits in an industrial estate in Weir Road - do not be put off by this.
They sell the most exquisite farmhouse cheeses, charcuterie, sauces, pastas, pestos and wine all from small producers in Italy.
If you want the best gorgonzola, speck, pecorino, salame or parma hams, this is without a doubt the perfcet place for you to go.
You can also buy stuff over the phone during the week if you can't get there on a Saturday, or buy stuff online at www.vallebona.co.uk
YOU WON'T REGRET IT

Review of Forty Seven Degrees
16 Apr 08, 20:03
Good for Board Gear
I've just slagged of the 47 shop on the Fulham Road, but their snowboard shop near Putney Bridge is much better.
Knowledgeable staff, with a good service and a good selection of snowboards and binding.
They do a pretty good service on you board if you need it here for about £40 which is a lot, but they'll fill in any nicks or scratches, do your edges and give it a nice base.

Sod Newquay
Don't bother with Newquay or any of the other spots in the Cornwal - Watergate Bay is where it's at.
Extreme Academy have a shop, cafe and activities centre. You can surf, kitesurf, mountain board and lots more.
Great, great place.

Review of Anns Cottage Surf Shop

All your surfing gear
Great shop in the heart of Polzeath.
They've a great selection with all the major brands, however if you are looking for technical gear, like boards, wax, etc. You're better off going to TJs next door.
Nice people in the store.

Fantastic chocolate shop at the Fulham end of the Kings Road.
Particularly love the asparagus shaped milk and white chocolate.

Review of The Ship
16 Apr 08, 19:26
BBQ-tastic
The Ship is a super spot in the summer, teaming with people all flocking for the river side views and the awesome BBQs.
Little known is the side dinning room which is great for parties in the winter and out of the way. They also do table service.
Happy Times.

Review of The White Horse
16 Apr 08, 19:24
The Poney
Quite possibly the best summer pub in south west London.
Ok, so the beers are expensive, but they have one of the best collections of European and World beers in the UK.
Best of all in the summer it's heaving with good people that all spill out onto the green to drink, be merry and play frizby. Yay - role on Summer!

Review of The Hancock
16 Apr 08, 16:30
Perfect Student Lunch
Best lunch spot ever. Cheap food with a loyalty card that gives you free food and drink.
They've got a large outside area and lots of pool tables so if you really can't be arsed with going back to lectures after lunch - the Scream at the Hancock is the place for you in the Toon - situated nicely between Claude Gibb and lectures.

Great Pub
I almost always have my birthday party in the pub, it's got a great upstairs or back room.
The staff are always friendly, it's got a great atmosphere and you never have to queue for that long.
Outside heaters in the winter provide a great little haven for smokers.

Review of Sophies Steakhouse Bar
16 Apr 08, 16:13
Best Steak in London
The amount of drunken girls lunches I've had in here - it's truly and awesome place.
The food is fantastic, great menu with good British grub, from steaks to fish pie, or burgers.
Only down side you can't book a table, best to turn up early and sit by the bar drinking gin and tonic waiting for a table to come free.

Yummy pre cinema stop
Great place to grab a bite before you go to the cinema up the road.
Not too expensive, very vibrant and fun, plus they churn you out quickly which is ideal if you are wanting to rush to the movies.
Good staff, usually easy to get a table.

Review of Cross Keys
16 Apr 08, 16:03
Pubs and Churches
What is it about great pubs being near churches? This is a fine example of that, The Keys iks sort of there taunting you whilst you sit through the Sunday morning service with a bit of a thirst on you.
Great pub, intersting decor, fantastic location for a party, but you need to book it in advance.

This photo is an old one, it's been done up really nicely now.
Good food, friendly staff, and a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Pretty good for weekends if you fancy a few bevvies with mates somewhere not too expensive that's easy to get to in a fun area.
They've tables outside for smokers and it's fairly close to Sloane Sq tube.

Review of Cock & Rabbit Inn
16 Apr 08, 13:00
The Rotten Habbit
The Cock & Rabbit is to the side of the village green of the charming hamlet The Lee.
The area is also the location for Midsommer Murders so if you are after a quintessentially English village for lunch and a walk or a couple of drinks in the evening the C& R is for you.
It's got a great beer garden out the back, great for those lazy summer afternoons swigging on bitter or cider.
The food is not however the best, but the friendly staff and location make it well worth the hour drive out of London.

Review of Mao Tai
16 Apr 08, 12:57
Very expensive but really gooooood!
On this popular stretch of the Kings Road, Mao Tai offers a Thai/Chinese fushion experience.
It is really expensive, but for a special occasion it's well worth it.
They recently refirbed the bar area which is great for a cocktail before dinner - or even if you don't want dinner it's worth it for the fresh fruit cocktails.
If you don't fancy going out they have a delivery service called Ruby Foos - 5 stars!
