Review of Brora

Yummy yummy cashmere 4*

Brora do the most beautiful cashmere cardigans, scarfs, gloves, jumpers, shawls etc.

Really high quality cashmere in great designs, patterns and colours.

It is really expensive, but they last for your life time and they make a really great present. I've got some wrist warmers I've had since I was a teenager that are still in great nick that I couldn't live without in the winter.

It's worth checking their site as they quite often have deals on things.

It's got everything 3*

From, furniture, kitchen and glass ware, to bathroom accessories and gifts this shop really does have it all.

A lot of their range is from India so there is a lot of teak furniture and interesting throws and fabrics.

They also have a range of great gifts like fun photo frames, or Asian art style ornaments.

Best thing, it's cheap as chips - well worth a look if you are trying to pad out your place.

Review of Kew

Good office kit 4*

Kew is owned by the same company as Joseph, it's just it's cheaper sister!

Some of the clothing is a bit mumsy, but they have great classics for your wardrobe.

If you are looking for a nice linen shirt, or some smart casual clothing for the office that isn't too garish, smart but comfortable, I'd give Kew a look.

I think their summer stock tends to be better and it's all reasonably priced. I think they have a branch in Ken High Street too.

Review of Heals

Like a kid in a toy shop 4*

This is one of the best British home furnishing shops you are ever likely to see.

It's on the corner of Sydney Street and the Kings Road. You could think it was habitat from the outside, but it's far more interesting.

They stock a number of good stock home furnishing products from British designers. They also have some really interesting funky furniture pieces that will bring something a little different to your home.

Be warned though, go there with an idea of what you want to buy, or you will end up walking out with a load of stuff that's really great but you probably don't need.

Beautiful Crystal 2*

I love this shop, but for what it is I really think it's overpriced.

If you are looking for a wedding present of something like that they have the most beautiful crystal champagne flutes or whisky glasses.

The cheapest will probably set you back £40 a pop, but for something really special it's worth a look.

I've only given it two because of the price. They carry an interesting line of home furnishings too.

If this isn't in your budget go up the road to Heals.

Punky, slutty fun! 3*

This is a great shop with really fun jewelry, punky clothing, accessories, and bits and bobs.

Diana the owner is a bit of a nutter, and the shop very much reflects her personality.

If you want something dangerously tarty for a fancy dress party you will find it here. They do have the odd nice top or skirt too.

Definitely worth a look.

Wonderful Art Shop 5*

Everything you could possibly want from a good art shop.

They stock many different brands of brushes and paints, as well as lovely gift items too. Good card and paper selection.

I could spend hours just browsing in here!

Review of My Old Dutch

19 Apr 08, 11:04

Pancake Central 4*

Really fun Dutch restaurant that serve mainly savory pancakes with chicken and vegetable fillings.

This is a good one for a quick bite before going out or going to the cinema.

Not somewhere you'd go for atmosphere or a party, but perfect for a quick bite. Good food, good prices.

Great beer garden 3*

The actual pub isn't anything special, it's really American, dark and dingy.

In the summer however, it's great, it's got one of the largest beer gardens I've seen in London, with beautiful flowers, trees and plenty of seating. Get there early on hot summer evenings to bag your table.

They do chuck you out of the garden by 10pm because of the residents, I would advise moving on at this point.

A guilty pleasure 1*

I know, I know, the dive and all that - I fully admit this is possibly the worst hole in the hole of England (including Slough) but I believe there are a few of you out there who've had surprising nights in there.

I know you won't admit it - but you're out there I know you are, I've seen you in there on a Thursday.

Caution: Do not attempt unless heavily intoxicated - then dance like a total fool for hours.

Review of Rococo Chocolates

I'm slobbering thinking about it 5*

Fantastic chocolate shop at the Fulham end of the Kings Road.

Particularly love the asparagus shaped milk and white chocolate.

If you want to impress someone, then this is the spot to buy a weekend present from.

More Cocktails 3*

Like the others have said I agree it's great for cocktails.

Gets really rammed so if you're not very tall expect to have an uncompfortable night, but other than that it's a good warm up bar before going on somewhere else.

Location pretty good, lots of buses go past so easily reached.

Review of The Builders Arms

Saturday Sessions 4*

Great place in Chelsea that doesn't get too packed. Very good Gastro Pub style food, great interior with really nice staff.

Britten Street, is just off Sydney Street in the heart of Chelsea. If you've had a hardcore day shopping and fancy a glass of wine and a snack, this is the place for you.

Review of The Admiral Codrington

16 Apr 08, 17:04

Over Priced but Really Nice 3*

The Cod is behind Peter Jones 2. It's nice in the summer (although stuffed with the estate agents found in abundance in the area) with a tiny front garden.

The food and the wine list are all impressive, but if you're on a budget I recomend the house white with something from the bar menu and the restaurant menu can be a bit of a shocker!

Review of Cross Keys

16 Apr 08, 17:03

Pubs and Churches 5*

What is it about great pubs being near churches? This is a fine example of that, The Keys iks sort of there taunting you whilst you sit through the Sunday morning service with a bit of a thirst on you.

Great pub, intersting decor, fantastic location for a party, but you need to book it in advance.

Secret Pub 4*

Love this tiny little place near Chelsea Pentioners (they're often drinking in there - if you fancy a good yarn buy them a pint).

Not sure about the food, but lovely little joint with a great atmosphere.

Review of The Trafalgar

Bit of a hole 2*

Not my favourite pub in Chelsea given it's so close to the Phoenix, but I guess it's ok as a stop off point.

Always seems a bit dark and dindgy, but it's affordable and you can almost always get a seat.

It's bloody brilliant 5*

This photo is an old one, it's been done up really nicely now.

Good food, friendly staff, and a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Pretty good for weekends if you fancy a few bevvies with mates somewhere not too expensive that's easy to get to in a fun area.

They've tables outside for smokers and it's fairly close to Sloane Sq tube.

Review of Chelsea Potter

16 Apr 08, 16:26

Standard pub 2*

Although famous, I don't rate the Potter very much, it seems to be a place people go if they want to be spotted by the people strutting up and down the Kings Road.

It's not particularly cheap, nice or special in any way.

I guess the location is ok, but other than that it's a bit of a void.

Review of The Coopers Arms

16 Apr 08, 16:23

One of Chelsea's finest 4*

The Cooper is a famous old pub, regulars have been George Best (RIP), Bruce Forsith and many more.

Lovely traditional wooden floor, bar and features, it's one that has managed to avoid the gastro pub make over most of the pubs in the area got treated too.

Grub's not bad either, and they allow dogs.
