L'Escargot, Greek Street 
For a pre-theatre dinner, L’Escargot offers good value for money and great quality food. I was expecting a rather pretentious restaurant, but instead it was very relaxed, buzzing with conversation and the service was and fast. For starters I had celery and fennel soup, followed by a main course of sea bass, with crushed new potatoes and aubergine. For dessert, panna cotta with blackberries. The wine wasn’t cheap but overall, this was a really tasty meal out.

The 39 Steps at The Criterion Theatre
At the weekend I went to see a matinee performance of The 39 Steps, at The Criterion Theatre, Piccadilly. This murder mystery, suspense-filled play (based on the novel by John Buchan) was superbly acted and great fun. Just four actors carried the entire show, each playing several different characters, sometimes two simultaneously. The Criterion is a wonderfully ornate theatre and very cosy. A perfect way to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon.

Review of Curzon Soho

The Curzon cinema
I was introduced to this quirky cinema/café/bar by my sister last November, for drinks, cake and interview practice (the evening prior to my interview at Classic FM). From the exterior, the Curzon doesn’t look like anything particularly special, but once inside, it is really wonderful. The range of cakes, by Konditor & Cook, are amazing (the Curly Wurly cake is a must) and the soups and spinach & parmesan muffins taste fresh and homemade. This place is a lunchtime favourite and is also perfect for an after-work glass of wine and a film.
