Review of The Rainbow

Rainbow
THE BEST FISH IN FARINGDON (not chips though - try Ming's for those, just a short walk away). Absolutely HUGE pieces of fish - & lovely quality. They also do jacket potatoes, kebabs & indeed some unusual offerings (I'm sure they used to offer Deep Fried Mars Bars!!). We go here quite regularly.

Review of Mings's Takeaway

Ming's Takeaway
The best chips in town! I love this chip shop (though I'd change the name!). Fantastic, fat, not-too-greasy chips. Full range of Chinese food - I love their Chicken Curry (nothing like a traditional Indian Curry, but lovely chunks of chicken in a really flavoursome sauce - Chinese style). Good prices. Friendly family / staff. Clean & hygienic. Newspapers to read while you wait. Always busy on a Friday night - Fish Night! Definitely the best chips in Faringdon.

Review of G & G Butchers

G&G Butchers
I cannot rate this butchers highly enough. I go to them every week / every other week to stock up. I usually buy their chicken breasts - SO much better & nicer than the mass produced & questionably farmed stuff you get in supermarkets. The quality is fantastic. They offer a huge range of sausages - some very unusual ones & some more traditional. I love the Pork & Leak ones but there are loads to try (spicy, fruity). Their pork pies are just the best. All their meat is of extremely high quality & they will cut it for you any way you like it. They also sell lovely traditional goodies such as honeycomb, chocolate covered sweets etc. and beautiful sauces & chutneys. Staff are very friendly & helpful. Can't recommend highly enough.

Rob The Cheese
Brilliant little shop. Sells, obviously, loads of different & unusual types of cheese but also lovely bread, crackers, specialist crisps, flour, olives, pasties & other yummy goodies. Keenly priced - a truly mouthwatering, temptating shop well worth a visit. Really good to support local, independent suppliers too.

A lovely little library with internet access. Children are made very welcome. Staff are very friendly and eager to help. Relaxed atmosphere. Great place to get info on local events too.

Review of Unicorn Plumbing & Heating

Unicorn Plumbing & Heating
I use these guys for both work & home plumbing requirements. They are always extremely obliging - trying to fit us in (particularly for work) as soon as possible so we don't have to struggle on with a malfunctioning loo or leaky pipes. They are fast, very efficient, keenly priced & just extremely helpful. I have recommended them to friends & family - all have been pleased. So nice to know a reliable plumber!

Review of Faringdon Leisure Centre

FARINGDON LEISURE CENTRE
I go swimming here regularly with the kids. A nice pool & they do special swimming sessions to cater for all sorts of swimmers - a fun toddler splash (where they provide floats), serious swimming sessions, swimming lessons, ladies-only swim. The water isn't too cold, changing facilities & lockers are good, showers are good. They also have gym facilities plus all the usual facilities you'd expect of a leisure centre. They host kids' parties with a choice of bouncy castle or music swim party & a room for food afterwards.

Review of Faringdon Coffee

FARINGDON COFFEE HOUSE
A really lovely little coffee shop (which, incidentally, sells much more than coffee!). Gorgeous cakes, light snacks & they have a fantastic selection of old fashioned sweets in jars - really takes you back in time. A lovely atmosphere - you can sit inside or outside if it's nice weather, where you can experience daily life in this lovely little market town. Forget the calories & treat yourself. You'll feel comfortable going alone or with friends / guests. A very friendly welcome awaits you.

Review of Davis DIY

DAVIS DIY
A great DIY shop that is more than DIY. Loads of great & lovely stuff - including small appliances & items for the kitchen. A bit like your old fashioned hardware store where you can buy an individual door knob / screw, but still contemporary & "now". This store has a real family feel. They have a paint mixer so can mix whatever colour paint you need. They sell a whole range of DIY products & loads of lovely nic-nacs. It's more expensive than your big DIY megastore, but is more individual. Definitely worth a visit.

Review of Saffron

SAFFRON'S - CURRY RESTAURANT
A quiet, charming Indian restaurant serving absolutely lovely food. If ever I go for a curry locally (eat in or takeaway), this is the one I always go for. Whichever curry I opt for, it's always lovely & really good quality. Portions are generous, atmosphere is relaxed & usually quiet, hosts are friendly, price is very reasonable. I'd highly recommend.

Review of Aunties Emporium

AUNTIE'S EMPORIUM
This is a brilliant shop which remains a largely undiscovered gem. I've bought loads of pine from here - wardrobes, lovely pine boxes, pine book case etc. Their prices are fantastic & the items are gorgeous. They sell antiques, bric-a-brac, oddities, loads of beautiful pine & oak furniture plus loads more. You never know what you'll find. I'd definitely recommend it. It's open 6 days a week (closed Mondays). You won't regret it.
