Ideal 3*

for a night on the lash on Albert Road. The clientele are all above board, although I did see a fully grown man sobbing in there once! Nice outlook to see drunk totty swerving down the road.

Review of The Festing

Sound 4*

The Festing is a fine pub. A great atmosphere, DJ can be a bit raucous and kill off conversation, but its a good place to start the Albert Rd trot.

Review of The Grave Diggers

Never ever 1*

This place is rancid. Honestly, how the hell they're allowed to open I'll never know? This place hasn't seen a paint brush since Nelson was walking the streets. Don't go here if you like yourself.

They Get It 4*

This place is ideal for a lazy beer on a Saturday. Its not to hectic, it pulls a young crowd - and they do a fine range of ciders and bitter. You'll like it - promise.

Nice Touch 4*

This is a good old fashioned english boozer. Mental carpet, wallpaper on the ceiling, but good beer and the regulars seem to be accepting of strangers. Good cider, I seem to remember.

Stay Clear 1*

Moons ago this pub was Ok. You could take your Nan there for a Pale Ale. Now I wouldn't take a regiment of Para's there. Grim, poor beer and totally chavvy.

Changing? 3*

This place is always on the change. As I type this, the bloke is probably outside changing the name to another such boozer. Good fun, good clientele - hotter than the sun in summer.

Relaxing pub 3*

A nice modern pub with just enough mix of old and new, has a good atmosphere and great food - had a great works christmas doo there and took over the whole place.

Bizarre! 4*

From the outside it looks like a place that wierd looking goth freaks would hang out. Inside its exactly the same. Its Halloween everynight in this place - good bitter though.

Review of The Jolly Taxpayer

You'll be shocked.. 2*

Imagine walking through a door like Mr Ben. One minute, its 2008 and you're happy, next minute its 1977 - the walls are carpeted, the floors are carpeted, even sections of the ceiling are carpeted. Its a local boozer - don't stand still for too long, you know what will happen to you.

Great Grub 4*

Well worth a drive to get to this great pub and it's excellent menu. The food is lovely, big porions and well worth the price tag. More than just a country pub.

Review of Walkabout Inn

Gday Sport 4*

If you want to go to a pub at the weekend and watch some sport. This is the daddy. Screens everywhere, if its on Sky/Setanta/Beeb - it'll be on in the walkabout. Your 1 stop shop for beer and sport. heaven. Scoff is ok too, a bit "platter" heavy mind.

Review of Eastney Tavern

15 May 08, 18:32

Solid 3*

There are some good boozers in Eastney and this is one of them. They have some good live entertainment, comedy, music. Regulars seem pretty normal, part of a nice crawl with the Cellars etc

Review of Ferry Boat Inn

Treat 4*

It does what it says on the tin. Its right next to the Ferry at Hayling. The food is good, although a little steep. By they do some good home made pies. Ale is good too.

Review of Still & West

11 May 08, 19:50

Location, Locatio 4*

This was the first ever pub in the world...possibly. But wierd to think that old sailors we're drinking there just after they sliced someones throat in Spain circa. 1329 AD. Good pub, excellent loactiom , excellent fish and chips, bit pricey. But worth it for the brilliant views,

Review of Fort Cumberland Arms

27 Apr 08, 19:11

The Good Old Days 3*

The FCA is a throwback to a by gone era. I right stinking old English pub, poor decor, grotty bogs, sticky carpet, regulars that look like they want to eat your face. I love it, just how a proper pub should be - not for the Lyle and Scott brigade. Real men only.

Review of The Mermaid

27 Apr 08, 19:08

Good 4*

The Mermaid is trying to be a normal pub amongst the razz of Ports Solent. Its Ok, loads fo room, a nice outlook across the marina and the prices are OK too. I ate chips there and they tasted like ...chips. Which is good. A good mix of people too, from Pompey footballers to drunken youth.

Review of The Slug and Lettuce

27 Apr 08, 18:58

Be Warned 1*

A prett standard Slug, beer is a bit steep. Peroni was 4.10 a pint. I shared a mixed platter thing that was 10+ quid and it was crap. They put deep fried baby carrots on the plate, deep fried courgette - they deep fried anything they could find. OK for an expensive beer, then move on.

Review of Frog & Frigate

27 Apr 08, 18:55

Wierd 3*

You walk in and see a pub that time forgot. Very tired inside, but they do have live music. I went on Friday and the place was hopping, good atmosphere -lots of drunk people having a really good time. Only 33 to get in to.

Review of Little Johnny Russell's

27 Apr 08, 18:50

LJR 4*

A proper Sat night pub. Good DJ's and live music, absolutley rammed on a Sat with a good atmos. Bouncers can be a bit dumb, but once you're in its good value though until 2 in the morning.

Review of Thatched House

27 Apr 08, 18:48

Shame 1*

This pub used to be excellent, located right on the harbour edge - its nice to sit there and watch the world sail by. Only thing is, its been taken over by the big chains and they've wrecked it. Food is bland, service is very poor. Very yawn, yawn - but with crap service.

Review of Ye Olde Oyster House

27 Apr 08, 18:45

wierdy Beardy Boozer 4*

On of those pubs that has a really wierd charm to it. Its pretty standard in all regards, but its got a nice feel right by the water and its just unpretentious and normal. Bearded clam pickers go there, so it must be OK.

Review of Red Lion Inn

27 Apr 08, 18:42

Fine Location 4*

Loved it. I've been a few times now, its a bit of an ordeal getting there. A stereotypical English pub, good food, good beer, but the outlook is superb looking across the South Downs, its lovely and peaceful. Ideal on a summers day with a pint of cider.

Review of Bat & Ball

27 Apr 08, 18:33

Old But Good 4*

Its the cradle of the game of cricket. More importantly, its a good pub, with good ales. The service is good and they offer some fine scoff to. Its in a great setting in the middle of no where, on a summers day its a little bit of Hampshire paradise.

Review of Square & Compass

22 Apr 08, 19:52

Fine English Pub 4*

A real little gem with glorious views across the Jurassic Coast, loads of great local ales and ciders on tap and a basic menu with the best pasties outside of Cornwall. Watch out for some highly amusing spontaneous live music on Sundays throughout the Summer - never a dull moment!

Review of The Garrick Arms

22 Apr 08, 18:57

Solid Boozer 3*

A good pub, nice atmos - and beer doesn't seem to steep (Leicester Squ, there are no cheap pubs). Do a good selection of bottle beer. Word of warning though, watch out for radio type people spouting off a load of muck - pretending to be somebody's.

Review of Baffins Inn

22 Apr 08, 18:37

Chavtastic 2*

I've been drinking in The Baffins since the start of time and my old man drank there before that. It used to be a solid local pub, now sadly its a hang out for youth. If you wear a hoodie and like to rock up on your push along scooter, you'll love it.
