Review of HMS Belfast

HMS BELFAST
Interesting day out to visit a World War Two battle cruiser. Now a museum giving an insight into the role the Royal Navy took in twentieth century conflict. Lots of information, artefacts and photos and a few rooms decked out with mannequins in the standard museum convention. It's a little expensive £10 for adults but kids are free and students/OAPs get a discount. Central location so should be easy to get to for Londoners and visitors alike.

Review of Walkabout Inn

The Walkabout Putney
If you have been to a Walkabout it is looks fairly standard. I've only been at lunch time, they have cheap burgers at this time but they can take ages to arrive. When they do turn up, it's great value for £3.50 or so. I love the spicy Sydneysider with Jalapenos and sour cream and the Springbok burger is a nice change to beef. Good larger on tap and more "party" selection of colourful alcohol-pops behind the bar. Obviously good for catching antipodean sport and there are plenty of TVs scattered around. Small court yard at the back to get out side during the summer but this is not that great , quite little and dirty feeling with views of fire exit stairs from the surrounding buildings.

Review of The Angel

The Angel (JD Wetherspoon)
I don't like Wheather Spoon's and this is no exception. Cheap, tacky, grimy, no music, and smells of stale beer, old men and sick. The one and only reason to set foot in here is if you can't resist the cheap prices. Chavs and drunks fill seats outside looking down from the raised area through blood shot eyes to the passers by on Highbury corner.

Review of Cabinet War Rooms

CABINET WAR ROOMS
Interesting museum showing the war time bomb shelter for government. The rooms are decked out to show how government could continue to run the country from underground safety. Not quite a fun as the other near by Imperial War Museum site, HMS Belfast, as its not a big ship! But still an informative experience. It's a little expensive £11 for adults but kids are free and students/OAPs get a discount. Central location so should be easy to get to for Londoners and visitors alike.

The Churchill Arms,
It's quite small and has loads of clutter & plants everywhere but this makes it feel cosy. Gets pretty busy. Great Thai food.

Review of The Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum
It is always great to see all the famous dinosaur bones on display. Fun for adults and children. Entry is free, and there is lots to see, so if you're not far you can go back until you've hand your fill of the wealth of knowledge under this roof.

Review of National Army Museum

National Army Museum
If you are interested in military history you will really like this museum, there is lots to see and learn. Others might find it a little dull outside the main rooms with the large vehicles but it is worth a visit just for these. However the Imperial War Museum could be more suitable for some children or these with less interest in history. Saying that this museum covers a much wider time period and is well worth a visit. I've been going since I was about 10 and have always enjoyed it. Free admission, so well worth the visit out west if you're from the other side of town.

Review of University of London Union

ULU The Venue
If you want a reminder of your student days go and see a band here, you'll see the good, bad and ugly of those years at this union. Great room for a gig and the high student percentage in the crowd means mid week gigs feel like Fridays. I had a great night seeing a couple of bands here in the autumn. The sound and atmosphere was excellent.

Review of The London Transport Museum

The London Transport Museum
If your in the Covent garden area and looking for a few hours of wandering around looking at the history of London transport you've obviously come to the right place. Lots of old buses and old transport vehicles to look at, and some to step inside. Worth a new visit if you haven't been since the refit as it's much improved.

Review of Tate Britain

Tate Britain
Home of some of Britain's greatest art. You can view the Turner Prize here, as well as pieces dating back to the 1500's.
