Quick & Reliable
I've been caught out far too many times waiting for taxis that have been booked but never arrive (is it just me?).
Thankfully, this place has always come up trumps and are quick and reliable which is want you want from a local cab firm.

Pricey!
This place is pretty pricey but worth it if you'd like a decent haircut.
After much searching for a decent barbers I ended up here after a friend suggested it. I've been drawn into lesser places in the past and regretted it!

Review of Red Rose Tandoori

Can't Stand The Heat?
The alarm bells should have started ringing when I first saw both The Darkness and Anthony Worrall Thompson on the leaflet pushed through my door but still I ordered a Chicken Jalfrezi....
I was expecting something that should have blown my head off but unfortunately ended up with a bland concoction that couldn't have blown it's way out of a paper bag.
I don't want to be negative but for this fact alone I won't be using this place again - sorry.

Review of The White Hart
11 Apr 08, 12:53
Not Too Bad....
Compared to Church Street there aren't many pubs or bars down this end of Stoke Newington so the White Hart almost has a captive audience.
It can get pretty packed in here from time to time and make sure you pop outside to the large beer garden on a sunny day.
Not sure if I've got a sensitive stomach but I'm not overly impressed with the quality of the beer here, I've woken up feeling pretty rough after drinking here on more than one occasion
It's ok but if you're in these parts then I'd advise going to the Shakespeare a bit further off the beaten track instead.

Well Worth Going To...
This was an unexpected find one Thursday evening, a lot more welcoming (certainly from the outside) than a lot of the other pubs in the area.
Has a nice selection of beers (including Landlord and London Pride) and a great atmosphere. There's a cosy garden/smoking area out the back and is usually pretty busy too!
If you like your rock then check out the jukebox, make sure you've got plenty of pound coins at the ready!

Review of The Rose and Crown

Great Interior!
Now this place really does look like a proper pub. It's best sampled in the winter when the weather is grim outside and you're in here in front of the fire!
The beer's aren't too bad, the staff could probably be a bit friendlier but there are worse places to drink around here.
If you're into your trivia check out the film, music and general knowledge quizzes every week, you'll certainly be challenged!

Review of Ryans Bar N16

Ho Hum
I really would like to be able to recommend this place but I can't, especially as there is so much competition on Church Street. The beer's a bit rough and the place could do with a revamp. Do yourself a favour and have a beer elsewhere, life's too short!

Review of Auld Shillelagh

An Institution!
The Shillelagh is an institution around these parts and well worth a visit. Don't be put off by the exterior, it's like the Tardis inside. It has very friendly locals, attentive staff and legendary Guinness. Look out for it's regular themed nights if you're a Johnny Cash or Sinatra fan too. It would get a five star rating from me if not for the fact that it doesn't do real ale but I guess even that can be overlooked from time to time!

Review of The Daniel Defoe

Good Beers!
After living in the area for a number of years I always seem to come back to the Daniel Defoe. Could it be the unpretentious regular pub decor? The small but tidy patio out the back? The reasonably priced good food? No, the reason I keep going back is the beer, a nice selection of well kept ales including my favourite St. Austell Tribute. Open til 2am at the weekends too....

A Great Pub!
A great pub with good beers, staff who seem to know what they're doing and a good selection of beers including Timothy Taylor Landlord. If you're into your music trivia check out Mistress Mel's excellent pop quiz on Tuesday evenings - Not 'arf!
