Review of Evans Cycles

Good Cycling Shop, Poor Service
After buying my brand new bike on eBay I had to get some extra equipment - so my natural step was to go to my local cycling shop - which happened to be Evans on Fulham.
I went there twice, first alone, and then after a couple of days with my girlfriend. Both times the impression was similar - the shop itself is good, but the service is poor. Staff there didn't really impressed me with friendliness etc. they definitely know loads about bikes but they answer your questions very bluntly and shortly, and you end up having an impression they don't really enjoy that you came there or that you need some help...
I eventually bought a helmet and bike-lock there, but when it came to buying a brand new bike for my girlfriend, we went to... cyclopedia! ooops.. sorry!
PS. not that I have anything against Evans - chain, I know couple of other of their shops which were really great! :-)

Review of Keatons

good sometimes great
I contacted keatons when I had to rent a flat in Camden. The whole service was just right, but there was almost no "that extra something" that would make me REALLY recommend it to someone.
Everyone there is nice and polite. The service is good, and they wont offer you something you say upfront you are not interested in (poor quality flats etc.) although they will try to show you some places which are sometimes overpriced.
As usual (I guess its the case with all agents in London) they will politely push you to sign the agreement and pay the money as quick as possible - but thats fairly understandable, right? :-)
All in total - good service, nice office, polite people - everything you could expect from a properties agent, but again.. nothing that would make me madly keen about them!

Review of The Lord Stanley

No music? But great atmoshpere!
This is the only pub in London that doesn't play any music. At all. Never. Nothing.
The only sort of music you can hear sometimes, is when some guest is playing a piano in the corner - but thats it.
But even so, it was one of my favorite pubs in Camden - with excellent food, (usually) friendly staff, and fairly good selection of beers & other drinks.
If you will ever be around Camden Square then this is definitely _the_ place to go.

Great selection of indie techno/electro records
This was by far by favorite records shop in London (until I discovered Juno :-) - its definitely the best place in London if you are looking for specific kind of "intelligent" electro / techno records from Germany, UK, and all over the world.
Relaxed atmosphere, very friendly staff (definitely knowing loads about what they have in stock) is making it really excellent place for a sunday afternoon full of digging in great records!

Review of Odeon Camden Town

Disappointing
I admit I came to London after spending 3 years in Berlin where all the cinemas I went to were almost brand new. But nevertheless I didn't expect such poor cinema - especially when its so overpriced!!
For a £10 ticket you get small room, dirty screen, very poor sound and not enough space for your legs (at least if you are > 5ft ;-)
Being my (ex-) local cinema I visited Odeon several times, but each and every time it was just the same.... disappointing!

Best London Nightclub - fullstop
This is the dream come true when it comes to club music in London. I definitely agree with Katie - its overpriced, the queues are massive (will help to come with some girl-friends cause otherwise they might not let you in ;-) ) and finding a free toilet after 12 is pain in the a**.
But the line up and sound quality are just amazing. The club is very smart with 3 separated rooms, each of a bit different size and slightly different type of music. The sound is amazing, top top quality - the only place that was so good was only Koko in camden.
A definite MUST for any serious party-goer.

Review of The Forum

Reasonably Good Venue
When I used to live on Camden, Forum was one of my favorite venues for concerts & parties. I went there a couple of times each and every time it was really good party. However, having some background in audio engineering, and must say, the one and only thing that I hated about it was.. sound.
Don't get me wrong. If you stand in the very front or in the middle of the dance-floor, its super cool. The sound it very good, basses are juicy and smooth. Its clear and the sound engineers are targeting exactly that audience there. BUT when you get tired and wants to have a drink on the balcony.. the sound it a nightmare - basses are booming, the clarity of all the pitches is gone and forgotten.
Of course, I know there's not much they can do about it - Forum is big place, so its extremely hard (if possible at all) to provide same great acoustic everywhere.. but.. well... thats not my problem either.
For any other sound-loving people, pick some other (smaller) clubs or if you go to forum DO go to the very front - otherwise you might miss something...

Review of Barclays Bank PLC

super-friendly
this used to be a my local bank branch - and although I joined Barclays just recently so didn't have so many occasions to go there - it really hit the spot in terms of how the local banking should look like.
The main thing I loved there is the atmosphere & service - maybe I was lucky, but literally every single time I went there, I was being served by some extremely friendly and helpful people, very funny, laidback and relaxed. It felt almost not like a bank. I know there's probably millions of people who would prefer to have somehow more "quality" and "professional"service - but for me, that kind of feeling, when you go to the bank and you feel like you landed in some kind of weird local shop next door - was just great.

value dinning on chelsea
I just had a dinner at this place, and I must say that the legends I've heard are all true - it is indeed "last place on chelsea" where you can eat normal, quality food and pay normal so-much-not-chelsea prices.
This is not a fancy restaurant by any means. And it's not trying to be one. This place is a lunch-place. A small but friendly & cozy restaurant with good food, great desserts and super-warm and friendly staff. The food is always tasty - a strange mixture of italian, british, mexican and international dishes. Desserts are home made - and definitely worth a try.
Need to go for a lunch and just EAT something good - but it happens you work on chelsea? This is the place to go!

Review of Locale

sleek & laidback
I've recently moved to Fulham and Locale has became one of my "local" italian restaurants. And as I'm sort of italian food junky - I had to test it sooner or later.
Locale is great place. The atmosphere here is very laidback and cozy - but in the same time sleek and a bit posh. Although its formally a resturant, lot of people come just for a drink of two - probably because of great selection of wine (and wine events they organize regularly).
Food is great - pure Italian classics, with lot of _real_ Italian pizzas (no ugly thick bottom :-) ), great selection of pastas, and tasty risottos. Starters are great too, but I guess its really my type of dining - although I definitely recommend what I ate there last time: melanzana alla parmigiana (aubergine with tomatos and cheese).
The only bad thing there? Its a (tiny little) bit overpriced - but hey, the food is top quality, the atmosphere is great - so why not pay that little extra for quality?
