Review of Ruse

Good for the footie
I have only ever been here to watch the football and rugby but it was a nice, pleasant, non-rowdy place to watch the action.
It has a slightly awkward lay out because of where the bar is situated which means that it can get a bit busy when the football is on since there are only a couple of spots with decent views. It has quite a few places to sit though and is a pleasant enough place to have a couple of pints in.

Review of The Roebuck

Great local pub
I like the Roebuck, plenty of tables, good food and beer, friendly staff and clientele. It's a great place to go on a Sunday and read the papers over a bite to eat (I think they have some papers on the bar actually for people to read). I think I have only ever been on Sundays in fact, but I am sure it is worth a visit any day of the week!

Review of The Britannia

Very cosy pub
When I first went here I didn't have huge expectations, but it is now a favourite for a midweek drink. A neighbour of mine introduced me to it because he liked the barmaid ;-) It has a very inviting, warm horseshoe-shaped interior with sofas on one side mirrored by tables on the other.
One wall is dominated by a whiskey list that is impressively long! the food in here is pretty generous in its portions and very tasty.
I find the staff really friendly in here and it is a very relaxing place to spend an evening. One drawback is that it doesn't appear to be open at weekends.

Review of Roxy Bar & Screen

One of the best bars in the area
Roxy is a great place to drink, eat and watch a film. It has such an inviting atmosphere, even though it can be easy to walk past it on Borough High Street!
They usually show films on Sundays - Wednesdays, usually classic, modern and independent films. Sundays and Mondays can get really busy so it is best to reserve a table - you wont regret it, it is so relaxing to watch a film on the great cinema set up they have, surrounded by Chesterfield sofas and little tables with candles, enjoying a bottle of wine and great food (currently a Greek menu). It attracts a really friendly crowd. Some of the more popular films now attract a small charge (currently about £3 per person). One sunday a group of us spent a day in there watching the Back to the Future trilogy, with lots of wine!
The rest of the time it is a very relaxing place to come and enjoy a drink - the staff are really good in here, very welcoming and friendly. Thursdays they occasionally have a poker night, while a Jazz band regularly plays on Friday. It opens late on Fridays and Saturdays. Roxy also communicates with its patrons well via its weekly newsletter which details what is going to be on in the next week and asks for feedback (that they actually act upon).
Such a great addition to the area.
