Delicious, a real treat 4*

Taken here for a special treat meal on a Tuesday night when it was quite quiet (but booking still advisable) and really loved it. A not-so's-you'd-notice Conran restaurant opposite the theatre of the same name. Great lowlit plush red bar to wait in for my date to turn up and discreet waiter furnished me with an aperitif.

Once at our big round table we had lovely service, delicious food and wine and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The perfect acoustic of the room meant we could hear only each other rather than the conversations of other diners although most of the tables around us were full. Not cheap I gather, but an utterly lovely experience.

Good food, nice atmos in Exmouth mkt 4*

Ate here in Exmouth Market last Friday evening and was really impressed. Unlike other places in Exmouth Market which were rammed this restaurant had room for us without a reservation and proved a really good choice.

Delicious monkfish and green veg and then a truly wonderful roast peach with honeycomb for pudding had me melting. Really sweet, kind, (not overly) attentive waiter and waitresses made it a lovely experience. Oh and not expensive. Don't pass this place up, we thought it was great.

Best thing about where I live Broadway Market and Columbia Road, Victoria Park and my studio, the great transport links and that it's not as up itself as Hoxton (yet).
Worst thing about where I live The property prices are too high for mere mortals. Darn those city types and their bonuses spent on buy-to-lets.

More about me A painter into objects, words and buildings. Sensible dayjob, doing corporate words and pictures, necessitated by the scarcity of rich art patrons in this town. Pretty mad about recycling and making things grow.
