Review of Eico Pharmacy

Very expensive but does the Job! 5*

Friendly Asian team who will advise you in all manner of treatments, both natural and conventional.

I would say to watch out for the inflated prices here though - the other local chemist 'Simmonds' in Swains Lane is part of the same chain, the two chemists are owned by the same proprietor.

The Eico/Highchem has a far greater range of products but again at a price tag which is perhaps worth it for the excellent advice available but I personally prefer to order online now.

Review of Fleming Dr Cornel

Down to earth approach!! 1*

I was a patient here for many years and it's a case of 'pile 'em high and cheap' ....

Very intrusive regarding personal matters and I would look elsewhere for a GP if at all possible!!

Review of The Parliament Hill Surgery

Room for improvement here.... 3*

I've just transferred from this practice due to the rude manner of the reception team. The GPs seem to have no control over appointent letters going astray and 'mistakes' in medication prescriptions.

I'll commend the qualified GPs for some excellent service once you actually get seen. But watch out that the receptionists don't fob you off with an unqualified student doctor as this is mostly a teaching practice with two fully qualified (and quite excellent) General Practitioners.

There is counselling and homeopathy available here too but the administartion is in my opinion rather needlessly 'posh' and tied up in too much red tape which at worse is very worrying

Review of M Simmonds

Expensive but there when needed... 2*

Owned by the same proprietor as the Eico Hichchem further down Highgate Road.

Fairly good advice most of the time (with arrogance) however when the proprietor is around you can be assured of excellence - but it does come with quite a price tag compared to boots and the online retailers.

I only use this chemist in emergencies if I can't get to boots.

There is good advice available for those that need it.

Review of Tesco Express

diffcult 1*

Shortchanging has been common as well as a general reluctance to hand out receipts.

This store has 'self service checkouts' which are great when they work.

I can't fault the stock and cleanliness, there are some good deals in the reductions fridge but you might find yourself being knocked into by a trolley.

Review of Miltons Eyecare

27 Feb 08, 03:50

very poor performance 1*

I'm sorry to say that in my case this particular optician failed me. I'm not saying that's the case for everyone.

I suffer from keratoconus which is an eye condition that affects the shape (of the eye/s).

I waited and waited for lenses, going back for further tests, phoning in every week for a whole year and finally the contact lenses arrived but they would only order one pair at a time and re-ordering took about six months in which I would needlessly be contact lense-less.

I can now order lens online from laboratories. Miltons did co-operate in supplying prescription details for this purpose. The details should usually also be on the actual lens container.

I stress that I was an NHS patient and I suspect that private patients would receive a better deal here.

I have not scratched the surface of the way I was failed and the rude and aggressive manner of the reception staff.

Review of House Of Mistry

Everything a chemist should be! 5*

Excellent long established family chemist with a laid back and gentle approach.

A range of healthfoods and cereals are available with herbal teas and anything you would need to maintain a good diet and health.

Review of Graham Dr S

07 Mar 08, 04:47

Experienced and professional 4*

Dr Graham is everything a London GP should be and has enough experience to know exatly what to do in any given situation.

His receptionists are *awful* and it's a shame.

This is a teaching practice and as such there are many medical students who might see you instead, it's likely that you will be given the oppurtunity to be filmed for research and training purposes.

I would be wary of the receptionists as I have turned up for appointments that don't exist and the wrong dosage of medication has been prescribed more than once, maybe it's just me and you will be fine, however I would suggest the Caversham Practice down the road for much better logistics.

Dr Stephen Graham is a first class GP though his three receptionists let him down somewhat.

Review of Post Office

01 Apr 08, 17:17

A place to go for insults 1*

Sorry but this post office sets a good example for why certain post offices could be marked for closure.

Pensioners are treated rudely and sometimes sent to the kentish town PO unneccesarily.

If you have more than one parcel to send at a time be prepared for rudeness, however there's one very helpful & efficient lady working here, I wish she ran the place!
