Review of Jessops

18 May 07, 19:47

Excellent camera shop 5*

Jessops is a great camera shop. They sell film, cameras and other equipment. The staff seem better trained than those in comparable shops. I got my camera fixed here and I found that the staff had a good level of expertise, and that they were very helpful.

Review of Lush

Great toiletries 5*

Lush sells handmade cosmetics and toiletries. They all smell gorgeous, as does the actual shop. products are individually wrapped, and so are a real treat. Details like glitter, quirky names and bright colours make the produts unique. An ideal place to buy presents.

Review of Langhams Court Hotel Brasserie

17 May 07, 11:00

Famous Traditional Restaurant 5*

Langham's is a very posh restaurant, partly owned by the actor Michael Cain. It's very famous, and gets booked out weeks in advance. The food is traditional British and very tasty. It's not as pricey as it could be considering it's fame. The salmon souffle is Langham's signature dish, and is well worth a try.

Review of Morgan M

16 May 07, 14:31

Pretension on a Plate 2*

M Morgan is a prime example of nouvelle cuisine gone mad. The waiters have elaborate French accents (we guessed they were probably in fact from Ealing) and do their best to make you feel slightly inadequate - as if you're lucky to be visiting their restaurant. The food comes in 'tasting menus,' which consist of numerous courses, each of which is accompanied by a selected glass of wine. Although the courses we received were little more than a mouthful each, the food was mostly delicious, and the wine was fantastic, and not overpriced. We had a great night at M Morgan, partly due to the food and the wine, but mostly due to laughing at the insanely pretentious experience. We left feeling that we'd been charged too much, and were reminded that truly classy restaurants bend over backwards to make your evening enjoyable, sumptous, and relaxed.

Review of Keston Lodge

12 May 07, 22:07

Cosy bar/pub 4*

Keston Lodge is a bar that, in my opinion, is ideal for wishing away a long Sunday afternoon; the music is relaxed, the food surprisingly good and the big leather sofas make it hard to get up and leave! At the weekend Keston Lodge is fun, attracting a young but unpretentious crowd. DJs play disco, electro and crowd pleasers which gets everyone dancing. Keston Lodge has also taken advantage of the newly relaxed licensing laws, opening late at weekends - till 3am I believe.

Review of John Lewis

12 May 07, 09:32

Department store 4*

John Lewis sells everything - sports equipment, luggage, jewelery, perfume, make up, clothes, tvs...and loads more. It's a definite favourite with mums (my mum at least anyway) and products are good quality.

Review of Liberty and Co

12 May 07, 09:06

Posh deparment store 3*

Liberty is a very popular department store with the upper middle classes and tourists. Services include homeware, flowers and cosmetics. Liberty also sells clothes, which are good quality but definitely for middle aged people. The building is very impressive.

Review of Mambo

10 May 07, 20:28

Surf Shop 4*

Mambo sells clothes that are aimed at teenagers and young adults, both male and female. Designs are very beachy and have a definite surf style. Colours are bright. Prices are very high. If you are looking to take a role as a Baywatch extra this is where I would head first.

Review of Lesley Craze Gallery and Craze Two

10 May 07, 15:50

Contemporary Jewelery 4*

Lesley Craze is a gorgeous shop selling a wide variety of jewelery. The designs are unique and contemporary, although the range is such that you will find something for everyone. All of the jewelery is hand made by a selection of the top modern jewellers around. Perfect for that special gift.

Review of La Porchetta

09 May 07, 15:14

Good value pizza 4*

La Porchetta is a very buzzy Italian restaurant which is rarely not full. It's appeal is in it's simple but tasty pizzas, which are great value. There's always a mixed crowd, fun music and hurrying waiters which creates an animated dining experience. However, there is a very fast turn around, so don't plan on spending an evening there.
