Proper city centre pub 
The Grapes is bang, smack in the middle of Oxford Street and the perfect place to start your night whether you're eating in one of the countless nearby restaurants or just sticking with the liquid diet for the evening.
It's been around for a dog's age and is a proper Southampton pub. Non-regulars feel welcome here and the bar is well stocked with anything your heart desires. Good all-rounder for sure.

Great food...but expensive 
I took my mum to Oxford's for her birthday and we did have a lovely night. The food is really good but a little on the pretentious side. It was my treat so I was prepared to splash out but nearly fell off my chair when the bill came!
We were well looked after by the staff especially when they found out there was a birthday amongst us. There wasn't a huge selection for me as a veggie but what I did choose I thoroughly enjoyed.
I would go back to Oxford's but may have to wait until I get a payrise...which could be in about 5 years time...
