Review of The Chambers

07 May 08, 19:11

Good starting point 3*

Chambers on London Road in Southampton is a big place usually pretty busy and very lively. It's a great way to start the evening off if you're out and about in town. They show the footie on big tellys if you need to know what's going on in the world of sport...oh they do great pizzas too. It can get a big warm in there when it's packed...what with big pizza oven and all. Apart from that nothing to moan about here!

Review of Pearl Harbour

It's upstairs... 3*

...not that that has any relevance really.

This is a nice Chinese restaurant in the centre of the city that's been around a while. I last went there a couple of Christmas Eves ago and had a thoroughly nice time. Even though our table ordered a set menu my veggie needs were well looked after. I seem to remember it being pretty good value too.

My only gripe with the place is the minging fish tank they have which is WAY too small for the fish and is absolutely filthy. Not nice at all.

Review of Hot Shots

29 Apr 08, 09:30

Oh dear 1*

Now I think the problem I have with Hot Shots is simply that I am too old! It's a big aircraft hangar of a place with zero atmosphere. Although I did randomly find myself playing air hockey last time I was in there...probably just to distract myself from the sticky carpet and smell of stale lager. Nice.

Half the clientele are like dogs on heat...no I don't want a WKD thanks or a malibu and coke for that matter. I'm old enough to be your much, much older sister.

Review of The Mayflower Theatre

28 Apr 08, 18:14

He's behind you! 4*

Ok so The Mayflower Theatre is so much more than panto...but being brought up in Southampton I have fond memories of Russ Abbott and the like frolicking about on stage!

I've been to many different shows at the Mayflower over the years...gigs, comedy, plays, ballet...the list goes on. You really can't fault the productions and the theatre itself is traditional and well looked after. A real treat I promise.
