Review of Las Iguanas

Buzzin'
I do like a bit of Las Iguanas...they seem to do quite a mixture on the menu ranging from tapas to mexican and the like. Yum.
It's a very lively, fun place full of atmosphere and noise. The food is really excellent and the staff keep you well fed and watered as they rush about from table to table. It's perhaps not the ideal spot for an intimate dinner for two...unless you go mid-week when it's not quite so mental.
This is the perfect place however for big work groups...birthdays...hens...or just because you and a load of mates what a good night out. Try it amigos...you won't be disappointed.

Review of Orsino Cocktail Bar Restaurant
28 Apr 08, 07:57
One of many...
...Italian restaurants in Hove Orsino has undergone a bit of a transformation in the past couple of years. It used to be very much a late night dinking place at weekends with the restaurant down the side and at the back. Now it's all about the food.
You won't be disappointed with the menu or the quality of the food but I do feel it's a little over priced. They do offer cheaper set menus but their a la carte menu can look expensive compared to other equally as good Italians. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant itself is clean and nicely decorated.

Review of Ubiquitous Chip

The name alone...
...makes this place worth a visit.
I was taken to The Chip by a local who really knows his Glaswegian venues. We didn't have the funds that day to eat in the award-winning restaurant but we spent a good couple of hours soaking up the rare Scottish sun on the roof terrace with a couple of large cold ones. A beautiful building with many nooks and crannies...it's located on a corner of the uber cool Ashton Lane. Felt like I was really on holiday.
I'm hoping to eat there next time as the menu boasts only the best Scottish ingredients and has an incredible reputation for good food.

Review of Ashoka Ashton Lane
25 Apr 08, 09:31
Outstanding
Now this is a very big statement to make...but the curry I had when I visited the Ashoka on Ashton Lane, Glasgow was the best goddamn curry I've ever had. EVER.
It's hard to put into words just how good it was...and let's face it we've all eaten many a curry in our lives. It was my first visit to the city...and to Ashton Lane which is uber cool in itself...Ashoka fits nicely in with the relaxed atmosphere of the West End. The service is impeccable..in fact we'd pretty much become life-long friends with our waiter by the time we left the place.
When our food arrived you could literally taste the love with which it had been prepared. The freshest of ingredients and flavours in every mouthful. Just sublime.

Review of The Oxford Brasserie
22 Apr 08, 09:31
Great food...but expensive
I took my mum to Oxford's for her birthday and we did have a lovely night. The food is really good but a little on the pretentious side. It was my treat so I was prepared to splash out but nearly fell off my chair when the bill came!
We were well looked after by the staff especially when they found out there was a birthday amongst us. There wasn't a huge selection for me as a veggie but what I did choose I thoroughly enjoyed.
I would go back to Oxford's but may have to wait until I get a payrise...which could be in about 5 years time...

Review of Gourmet Burger Kitchen

Wow...that is a big'un!
GBK (as it's affectionately known) is the perfect place to stuff your face whether it's at the end of a hard day of shopping, before a big night out for lining of the stomach or because you're off to Komedia in an hour's time and can't face their nachos again.
I'm a veggie and was concerned when I walked in that my options would be limited. WRONG! There's plenty for us non-eaters-of-things-with faces. If I remember rightly I had the falafel last time and it was nearly as tall as me. It was smothered in cool yoghurt and cucumber dressing...yum.
Definitely worth a visit...you won't spend your whole evening there but it is high-quality 'fast' food.

Review of Terraces Bar & Grill
16 Apr 08, 08:24
Once was enough
My housemate took me to this restaurant because he had vouchers to spend there. The vouchers were by way of compensation for a bad experience a friend of his had had there and they need using up.
'Great...free meal' we thought...
Thank goodness we didn't have to pay. There was a strange atmosphere about the place...it may have to do with the layout of the tables. Because the building is round everyone is seated around the edge and I don't remember there being any tables in the middle which left it feeling a bit sparse. The food was really uninspiring...my chips were cold, my housemate's steak was tough and the mayo on the side looked like it had been left out of the fridge too long. Even the service left a lot to be desired.
Bear in mind that I'm usually easily-pleased...not the sort to get upset about minor flaws...but I will not eat here again.
(ps. the star is for the lovely views of the sea and Palace Pier)
